Re: The Rant Thread
Travelling along a city multi lane road today (Victoria Rd) came up beside a cage doing between 50-60k/hr and for some reason decided to have a look at the driver (gut feeling) and here is this f??kwit staring at his phone in his left hand, it was obvious to me the phone's screen was way more important than the whereabouts of other road users. So I hit my horn, he looked at me and I took my right hand and turned it palm side facing up and expressed the term "WTF" .... I must have hit a nerve, his phone went down and he turned off onto a servo to check and make his calls.

Caution axle gets hot if towing over 60kmh. Do not tow children in wheelie bin. The list goes on....Ewok1958 wrote:I dunno how the wheels/axle didn't melt. Maybe the council will need to fit stickers "Not for Road Use" - that should be an excuse to increase the annual rates to pay for the stickers.

Several years ago a couple of kids tried to ride in a wheelie bin down NZ's steepest street. They hit a parked car and sadly the young girl in the bin died.

thats very sad Kewwig. Kids are always going to be kids aren't they, even though the handwringers are trying to stop them. I think all they're really going to achieve is a worldwide cottonwool shortage.kewwig wrote:Several years ago a couple of kids tried to ride in a wheelie bin down NZ's steepest street. Politicians
Politicians!!!
Probably don't need to say anymore but I just want one that will not change his/her view to align with the loud minority, one that does not automatically give themselves a HUGE payrise weeks after laying off thousands of workers, (A QLD thing) One that stands by his/her convictions and will not sway left or right, one that will answer the question that is put to him/her, one that is in the job not for him/her self but for us, the voting public.
This is my rant for today - thank you.

Hey truck, us bike riders are known as a loud minority. I'd be happy with a pollie or two to align with us! Might help to get rid of some of those killer "wire rope barriers" around the place! Just to name one thing they could do for us. Get the pollies on bikes I say.
I agree with everything else you said tho truck

Okay so I've been stuffing around with mechanical stuff since I was 12. Fro the last 15 years employed as a mechanical fitter, (not qualified). I've disconnected and reconnected electrical motors, powerpoints, and stuff. What REALLY PISSES ME OFF is the fact that you have to use qualified people to do certain things and all they do is FUCK IT UP!!!!. Over the last two weeks I've had to fix things that so called qualified technicians have stuffed up or had no idea how to fix it.

Steve Ive just spent 10 days at Burleigh Heads (Gold Coast), on a day trip to Bryron/Ballina we were slowed to 40kmh on the freeway as " cheese grater " fences were being installed for km after km. It made my skin crawl. I wish the Government did a little bit more research before going all in on some projects. Had Campbell Newman been shown some footage of any biker unfortunate enough to have encountered one of these " safety barriers " he may have had second thoughts. Ive heard in Scandinavia, where these things originated, they have or are ripping them all out because they are so lethal. Maybe someone else knows if thats true or not. I wrote a letter to Wagga Council 2 years ago as I could see them about to be installed at an upgraded busy intersection. No response, as you would expect.

Re: The Rant Thread
So - the next test match has started and already controversy over the 3rd umpiring. Yep, it was bloody hopeless (and wrong) but......
Australia needs to find a No3 that can bat. Kwaja = poor technique, Hughs = poor technique, Cowen = poor technique. These guys are not up to the responsibilities of batting first drop at test level. Unless we can solve this problem, we're only ever going to be lucky to win any test cricket match.
IMHO

Right on Gus. I think Siddle is the only one with a bit of "Mongrel" in him. Mind you. Every country goes through a rebuilding stage.

I hate politicians!!!!!!!! and how in THEIR eye`s, their making political ground in the continual air time of boat people.
whether you hate that subject or not, as if this is going to make me vote for any of the two DICKHEAD parties in power who don`t give a shit about the commoner, and only want to feather their own nests.
along with the fuck heads in QLD , that want to give them selves a 42 percent pay rise.
Makes one want to climb the clock tower!!

Fucking morons who make a comment on a public forum/FB page then get upset when people offer an opinion. For fucks sake, if you didn't want people to argue with you, your beliefs challenged or feelings hurt why the fuck did you put your thoughts out there for the public to see.

Just been quoted $700 to replace head gasket on my old 2002 1200S, 6 hours labour and $110 for gasket.
Due to my religious beliefs I cant swear but sometimes I get very close.

When I had mine done, it cost the same, but that was with a full service (including valve clearance check) and a new chain and sprokets.

I had mine done maybe 3 years ago, so prices have gone up. The valve check didn't cost anything because the had the top off anyway and they didn't need adjusting.

Re: The Rant Thread
Well here I am up early on a sunday to go to work. Plan was to get things done then go for a nice ride. So what am I listening to while sitting here at the computer ? RAIN ! Typical. Yesterday the forecast was for showers and not one drop fell. Today is supposed to be mainly fine and...... Checked out the radar sites and it may clear in time for us to catch a barge over to the Big island. I even had Jan primed and ready to come along. You mainland lot are so lucky to be able to throw the leg over whenever you want. Fingers crossed. We've got about four hours so it might clear. Don't whip that cream yet Gus. I better go off to work now. Just in case.

Have emptied another 12.5mm from the gauge today bringing November's total to 200mm - more coming later in the week. I should have bought the extra water tanks.
