Northern NSW Ride

First topic message reminder :

OK. Sorry about getting all excited and rushing in about a stage 2 event.  But I would like to try and organise a long weekend ride sometime in the new year while the weather gods are  still kind to us. My pick would be Drake as a 1-2 overnight base camp. Obviously if some of you guys/gals were coming up from a fare way down , then you will organise rest stops along the way.  There are so many fantastic ride roads all around that area that I'm sure that it would be a great location. John and I did Cowra to Drake comfortably in one day, and he was aboard his Triumph Tractor. I'm not suggesting that that is what everyone should do. Only pointing out that it is pretty easy.  I truly hope that we can get something going and look forward to any ones interest.

I have taken some annual leave so I'm a definite starter barring death or disease!

The knee jerk reaction is over. Things are calming down for the normal public riders. I have not spoken to one rider that has been pulled over yet. Harley riders included. The initial blitz has had it's effect. May have even saved a life or two in the process. I know that I have been riding a bit more cautiously than usual   . It's in the back of your mind but if your not doing anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about if you do get pulled over.

Hope this isn't a stupid question (or maybe I've missed something) - do we need to book our own accommodation?  Boatz and I are riding up together and I can't remember if that includes hitching along with MM as well.

Trying to work the logistics of that out with Ewok and Boatz. At this point I think it might not be possible

I'm staying in Drake fri + sat night. Leaving Sydney on thu staying probably in Walcha overnight. If I ever get the use of my right hand again.

not for me. I'll go up the freeway to wauhope and the do the oxley and stay at walcha and maybe wait for you guys on friday at uralla

That's ok Baz it was just a suggestion.
Though that way seems to be a much longer route

If you're going up the highway, don't miss out on The Wooton Way. 
It's the old Pacific Hwy Bulahdelah bends. Awesome stretch of road that time forgot. Lots of lovely bends and not a soul in sight.  
Turn left immediately after Bulahdelah and the old highway comes back out onto the freeway about 10km or 20km up the road. Will only add 15min to your trip. That's if you can resist turning around and having another couple of goes.

Because it doesn't get used much there is sometimes a lot of moss and leaf litter,(unfortunately) at least when I've been that way.

I've been up the Wootton Way so many wootton times, it was great when it was the only wootton way up. I call a spirited ride through the wootton way getting rotten on wootton

That suits me but will be a 700k day for Dave. We can do some surfing for a motel in the next week or so and get something booked. MM are you flying solo on this ride or is Michael joining you, just asking for accommodation purposes.

Does that mean you are definitely solo and meeting us at Muswellbrook on Thu night?  If so, Boatz will book a triple room at Muswellbrook.  Else, if it is just me and Boatz, we'll go for a twin room.
