Northern NSW Ride
First topic message reminder :
OK. Sorry about getting all excited and rushing in about a stage 2 event. But I would like to try and organise a long weekend ride sometime in the new year while the weather gods are still kind to us. My pick would be Drake as a 1-2 overnight base camp. Obviously if some of you guys/gals were coming up from a fare way down , then you will organise rest stops along the way. There are so many fantastic ride roads all around that area that I'm sure that it would be a great location. John and I did Cowra to Drake comfortably in one day, and he was aboard his Triumph Tractor. I'm not suggesting that that is what everyone should do. Only pointing out that it is pretty easy. I truly hope that we can get something going and look forward to any ones interest.

We're coming from Armidale Sat morning and are planning to be there in time for the ride.
.. but it's "only" 572km from Newcastle to Drake via Thunderbolts! Trip to the shops.
Would love to make it all the way, but Chris has a four hour shift on her Postie bike before we set off on Friday. Then four and a half hours to Armidale. A big days riding for anyone.
I copped it when she found out how long the ride home would take, so we're making a weekend of it stopping off at Armidale again on the way home. Will be going via Casino, Grafton and The Waterfall Way.
Will be at Drake well before 10am. Looking forward to meeting everyone and doing the mountain ride.
I didn't realise that you only had half a day plus it only seems short after the ride I've just done.
Planning to be in Armidale for lunch on Friday, hoping to link up with MM, Ewok and Boatz there. Do you guys have a rough plan for Friday? I assume you will just go up the New England Highway from Muswellbrook.
Looking forward to meeting some more Bandits on the weekend, had a great ride with 2WA and the VFR last Sunday and EWOK on Friday and Saturday.
Only 2 sleeps.
No real plan, just get up Friday morning and head to Drake. Don't know what time we'll get to Armidale. If it's around lunchtime we'll look out for you.
Cool, I have EWOKS number and vice versa, actually look for us at Uralla it's closer to half way for us.
We have 70km further to go than you guys on Friday.
Re: Northern NSW Ride
Just looked it up. Armidale looks to be a fuel stop for us anyway.

New chain and sprockets, air filter, oil and filter, new spark plugs and a rough clean bike ready to go, just need a couple of shirts and undies and I'm good to go.

I'll text you when we get to Armidale just in case you show up soon after, otherwise we'll see you in Drake. If you could text me if you get there first we'll know you are in front.
Lovely! I can hear rain on the roof it camped on Newcastle all night.
Hopefully it won't follow me. Of course, not a drop on last week's ride so I blame Baz.
Re: Northern NSW Ride
I'm off on the 7:10am Barge. Fuel up and off. Nice Brekky somewhere along the way. Going the Tenterfield route. Because I love the road from Tenterfield to Drake. See ya all real soon !

Way to break the drought in Newcastle.
Plan a ride.
250mm rain in places since 8pm last night.
Oh well, riding in the rain beats working and day of the week. 8-)

Re: Northern NSW Ride
What a fantanstic event, fellas.
Despite a very wet start to the weekend, we had a blast.
Finally putting faces and names to avatars and catching up with a great bunch of guys.
Chris actually said " You know, they're a great bunch of guys and not a single wanker amongst them." and she's a good judge of character when it comes to tools. Lol
Hammy's "Bone shaker" tour was a blast.... shook a few kidney stones and fillings loose, thrill seeking bikie gang run into Queensland with some awesome twisties thrown in for good measure.
A big thank you to all involved and especially for Chris' surprise birthday cake.
Thank you also to Kiwi Steve for a tour of Grafton and pointing us in the right direction for Armidale.

Just the one lapse eh?
A big thank you to Hammy and the crew at the Lunatic Hotel.
I was great to meet up with Paul, Brian, David, Garry, Chris, Mark, David, John, Barry and Steve. I hope the rest of you get home safely.
Thanks for making it such an enjoyable couple of days.
We got a bit wet on the way home but nothing like what we started out in.

I have to agree, it was a top weekend even if we did all get a bit damp here & there.
No probs Bosco, happy to help out, & nice to meet you & Chris.
I had a couple of showers on the way home after I left you & Chris to it, but nothing compared to yesterday on the way to Drake.
It was good to meet Re-C & Baz, as well as seeing the rest of the Cowra mob too. Thanks for a great night on the turps boys, & girl.

Re: Northern NSW Ride
A HUGE thank you to all who rode through some nasty weather to get to Drake. I recon it was better than Cowra. Maybe cause some of us knew each other a little, the friendships have grown more.
John and I had a wonderful ride home. Sunshine all the way. Oh , except for a little thick fog between Drake and Casino. Got to Nimbin ( that was an eye opener ), then had a wonderful ride through Springbrook Valley.
Am sure that the memories of the weekend will stick with me for a long time. It had everything.
I think I need to detox for a month now.
I now there are some of you still on the road. Stay safe and I hope we meet again.
Oh, and by the way. The BlackBird performed faultlessly the entire trip. Kidneys and teeth intact.

Hey Hammy, I think the Sprinbrook valley you speak of is the Numinbah valley. Did you end up with the Hinze dam on the right, & some super tight twisties while you were going past it? Oh, & you would have passed Natural Bridge

Did any of you Drake riders happen to pick up a black Lunatic Hotel stubbie holder near the bunk house?
Bought the bugger, now can't find it
