Northern NSW Ride
First topic message reminder :
OK. Sorry about getting all excited and rushing in about a stage 2 event. But I would like to try and organise a long weekend ride sometime in the new year while the weather gods are still kind to us. My pick would be Drake as a 1-2 overnight base camp. Obviously if some of you guys/gals were coming up from a fare way down , then you will organise rest stops along the way. There are so many fantastic ride roads all around that area that I'm sure that it would be a great location. John and I did Cowra to Drake comfortably in one day, and he was aboard his Triumph Tractor. I'm not suggesting that that is what everyone should do. Only pointing out that it is pretty easy. I truly hope that we can get something going and look forward to any ones interest.

Are there any other pubs in town that anyone knows of? The lady said there are bunks available but I don't think the missus likes an audience.
Had a quick look on the net but ended up in Drake Bay El Salvador. Lol
Its OK Bosco. We are the bloody bike group. I rang up and reserved all the three units. It's all sorted. Glad to hear you are bringing your missus. Will give Jan someone to talk to.

Right guys n gals. I have reserved the three motel units at the Lunatic Hotel, Drake. They are 1 queen plus 2 singles and 2x 1 queen plus 1 single units. Then there are the bunks in the modified containers. They have their own bathroom as well. I move that we just all get there and sort out the bed situation then. Of course couples will have the first dibs on the queen bedrooms. I'm sure no one has any highly contageous deseases that we have to worry about. There will be plenty of beds for everyone. While I was talking to the publicans wife she told me that the " Australian Motorcyclist " mag has done a large article on their pub which is in the next issue. Out this wednesday I think.

Dave, Have you and Brian planned a stop on the way up to Drake? Also what day are you leaving to head up? If you can let me know I can work out where we can meet up to head north.
Cheers Gary

Not yet, however I might be going via Wagga if Jimmy is coming.
If that's the case I'll going up through Cowra, Bathurst then Tamworth etc
You might like to head out that way and meet up.
I plan on leaving early on the Wednesday
We'll work something firmer out closer to the date

I was thinking of leaving on the Thu but haven't thought out a route yet. I could get to the Gong by 1.00pm if that suits for a join up.

Re: Northern NSW Ride
Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
In a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
And a Jimmy haulin' hogs
We was headin' for bear on I-one-oh
Bout a mile outta Shaky Town
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's Rubber Duck.
And I'm about to put the hammer down."
And Ali McGraw was hot stuff for a young lad back then!
10-4 big buddy.

How are we looking for numbers? Looks like there's 3 or 4 of us from Newcastle interested, not counting Mr and Mrs Bosco.
2 of the others are forum members, one even has a Bandit!
Thanks for organising, Hammy.
Re: Northern NSW Ride
We're in.
It's Chris' s birthday weekend, so she's a little upset about being away from the kids, but also very excited about being away from the kids. Women, hey?
We are leaving Friday arvo and staying at Armidale overnight. An early start to get to Drake Saturday, hopefully in time for the ride.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Thanks all.

Re: Northern NSW Ride
Numbers are looking great. The guy that is organising this must be really good If we do the Mt Tamborine ride on the Saturday we could leave at 10 am and still be up there in time for lunch. Then a nice senic ride back to Drake in the arvo. A birthday party as well. . It's getting better by the minute. This will be one that Chris won't forget.
Armidale is not that far from Drake. We will organise things when time gets closer.
