Bandit weekender meet 30/10/10 - 31/10/10

First topic message reminder :

Ok. Towards the end of this year or early 2011 we will have an overnighter. A good chance to meet each other. Have dinner in a pub and socialise over a few beers.
I think its best to organise this in summer, much more enjoyable.

so here are my thoughts. please post up if you are interested in coming and the best time for you ie november or december etc. after about 2 or 3 weeks ill create a pole with a number of dates. then we'll take a vote. also post up anywhere that you think would be the best spot for the trip. depending on who want to come, i have no problem with even a 3 day trip.

Meet: 0900 at McDonalds, Molgoa Rd, Penrith
Route: GWH. Oberon for the first stop. Back roads to Goulburn for lunch. Across to Batemans bay for another stop. Possibly meet up with some other riders. Then down princes Hwy to Narooma. Return route yet to be finalised. Up the coast or though Kangaroo Valley.

Just calling a couple of places tomorrow for prices and ill post up tomorrow arvo.
For us NSW boys, ill also post up a rough route and see what people think...ive got a real good one in mind..just have to check on how far it is km wise..it will be a long one though.

Got a pub 200m down the road, and a club down the road as well.
Parking for the bikes.

Its down an Narooma, just south of batemans bay.

******Now for us NSW boys, i have a really awsome route down...however it is around 500km. Thats no problem for me, i love long rides, but if you want to come, and this is a little to far for you, let me know...other wise this is the basic route:
Bells line rd to mount VIC. Down mount Vic across to oberon for a quick stop. Then my awsome favourite fantasic amazing road down to goulburn. We will probably have lunch here. From goulburn, acroos to batemans bay, Which is another great road. Then down Princess Hwy to Narooma. You wont be dissapointed.
Then for the trip back, im open to suggestions...any way suits me...either the same way back, or up the coast.

ok - all things being equal i'll be there - how far in advance do you think we should book the accommodation?

Thats a big one day ride, have u done it??. Last year with a group we did a ride from Windsor follwing your route to Araluen ovrnight and stopping at Oberon for Lunch and Goulburn for a coffee stop. We didnt get to Araluen until after 5. Were sitting on around the 1.10 to 1.20 most of the way.

Im still keen to come and will confirm later but will probably ride down the Princess Hway and either meet some where from Batemans or see you there. I have got a good 1 hour ride and 80 ks to get to the starting point also.

I too am wondering how I can make it in 1 day, I have googled a route that is only 485km but it involves a lot of highway riding the section from Mittagong to Nowra looks good . Any suggestions?

More like 160km to the start for me. If I went that way.

Google Route

I was thinking about you guys that live a fair way from the start point.
If you live south, we can meet up anywhere you like. Batemans it probably the best spot.
For the guys up north, im not sure. I dont know my way round to well from up there.
Ill see what i come up with

I am coming down for the GP and then doing the GOR and some other iconic rides so I am planning to add this to my route. So I dont care where it starts.

Up here is not a problem, it's local knowledge of Sydney and South that I was interested in. I'm very conversant with the roads North of Sydney, for example Thursday I did about 450 km, had to be in Denman at 0800 but I did take the opportunity to check out the motorcycle friendliness of some back roads like this. I had to go to Scone next, and since I had some "lunch time" up my sleeve I tried a more creative route back to Beresfield like this.

I must say there are some very "enthusiastic" drivers heading up the valley in the morning.

I live in Wollongong so I'd probably meet you all at Goulburn when u stop for coffee. Windsors about 100 ks from were I live.

I think I will also make this a start to other rides, I can stay on the south coast for a few nights and then head off elsewhere.

My father wants in on this ride as well. A couple of you guys have met him.
His names Andrew. He rides a Honda CB1300...so a little like a Bandit...just not as awsome
Anyway, ill put his name on the confirmed list. Its getting closer
Oh and my brother matt (sloth_27) will probably come along on his 1250 as well.

I'm heading to Moruya soon for a few days. Plan on doing Mt Imlay Rd while I'm there.
I'll call into this motel and say hello and check it out.
