Is anyone else considering going to the Bandit meet 2015
Is there anyone else from SA considering going to the Bandit meet 2015
I'm a 99.9% goer at this stage and will most likely be taking my (by then 16yo) daughter along as well.
If anyone else is considering it, I'd be happy to check out accommodation on the way, most likely Hay if it's a 2 day ride, last trip that way stayed at the Riverina Hotel, 2 years ago it cost $35 for a twin room and the bike was locked up securely in a car port out the back.

I would have to say no at this stage, I have kids in Vic and would need to get over there for Easter. So having an extra weekend for a ride just prior to it would put me out.

Would require a Fixed date and place to make a decision , But interested at this stage depending on work .

Looks like we've decided on Parkes, NSW.
Make yourselves known on the main thread for this trip, & we can nut out an exact date

Re: Is anyone else considering going to the Bandit meet 2015
Ok, it looks like the date has been set, 6-8 March 2015 for Parkes, a bit closer for us than 1st suggested
I'm thinking I'd like to leave on the morning of Thursday the 5th, a easy 660km to Hay the 1st day, with a nice easy 400km ride up to Parkes on the Friday morning.
At this stage I'll be going 2up with my 16yo daughter coming along (subject to other females attending)
I wouldn't be in any rush to leave too early on the Sunday, I'd consider staying for the 3rd night and doing a early start on Monday with a stop over on the way home Monday night

Chook, I might take the northern route out of Melbourne thru Echuca and Deniliquin and meet you in Hay.
Ferry docks about 6:30am, so should be on the way out of the city by 7:30. Mr Google says it's about 5hrs riding time, counting fuel and rest stops that puts me in Hay about mid afternoon.
Doesn't seem too bad a trip, set the cruise control and auto pilot and sit back and watch the movie....

That would work out well, you would most likely beat us there. Others from Vic (or Tas like yourself) might want to do the same as well although for a lot they might decide it's shorter going through Wagga, a couple of months out when we've got definite numbers I'll make a booking at the Riverina where we stayed last trip overbarry_mcki wrote:Chook, I might take the northern route out of Melbourne thru Echuca and Deniliquin and meet you in Hay.

I'm happy to take that route and meet you in Hay, assuming on the Thursday night?
Is that your plan Barry? Arrive Melbourne Thursday morning. I could meet you outside at the pier.

Yep, Thursday night in Hay, if we had a early start on the Friday we'd be in Parkes by lunch

Sounds like a plan.

Have any other SA members considered the trip over, we're still planning on meeting barry-mick & madmax in Hay on the Thursday night

Looking at accommodation in Hay it has been recommended to me the Big 4 CP in Hay is good, plus the pub is across the road

Last time I stayed there (with my daughter) we stayed at the Riverina Hotel, cheap pub accommodation and they let me lock the bike under a carport next to the rooms. In 2012 it was $35 a night for a twin room. I was planning on staying there again, the pub did good meals, it was in the main street, there was a great Fish and Chip shop just down the road, from memory there was 4 or 5 rooms

We'd probably need to book all the rooms

Unless you 2 wanted to share a twin room we'll only need 3 thenmadmax wrote:I think Barry and I are the only 2 coming up from MelbourneChook wrote:How many are we expecting for the night in Hay?

Re: Is anyone else considering going to the Bandit meet 2015
I just rang the Riverina, seems they've stopped letting their rooms, new owners, pity, they were clean, comfy and bike friendly
The caravan Park might be the best option unless someone else does cheap pub rooms with secure parking
