Which Date?
Bandit weekender meet 30/10/10 - 31/10/10
First topic message reminder :
Ok. Towards the end of this year or early 2011 we will have an overnighter. A good chance to meet each other. Have dinner in a pub and socialise over a few beers.
I think its best to organise this in summer, much more enjoyable.
so here are my thoughts. please post up if you are interested in coming and the best time for you ie november or december etc. after about 2 or 3 weeks ill create a pole with a number of dates. then we'll take a vote. also post up anywhere that you think would be the best spot for the trip. depending on who want to come, i have no problem with even a 3 day trip.
****EDIT****
We have a final date and destination.
Date: 30/10/10
Accomodation: Festival Motor Inn, 126 Princes Highway, Narooma
Cost: $75 per night
Phone: 4476 2099
NSW GROUP:
Meet: 0900 at McDonalds, Molgoa Rd, Penrith
Route: GWH. Oberon for the first stop. Back roads to Goulburn for lunch. Across to Batemans bay for another stop. Possibly meet up with some other riders. Then down princes Hwy to Narooma. Return route yet to be finalised. Up the coast or though Kangaroo Valley.

Is there a service station near the meeting point, I'll need a top-up by then.
You should stop at the Caltex on the M4 at Eastern Creek, about 15kms before you get to Penrith. It's obvious so you shouldn't miss it.
I think we'll do a quick top up at Oberon, Cameron gets carried away sometimes and thinks he is still on his GS500.

Well what an awsome 2 days.
Id just like to start with a big thanks for everybody that came for the weekend. It was a great couple of days. And got no rain at all. From the meet point to narooma, we did 620km. so a decent first day. Had a good mean and a chat over a few drinks at the local pub. Rain a fair bit that night. Woke up in the morning and the sun was trying to come out. Roads a little wet for the first hour or so, but after that it was dry all the way home.
Was really surprised that we didnt get a drop at all while we where riding. Thats why i say you must always have faith.
Also there where no incidents for the whole trip. We where running a bit late saturday. The newcastle boys where a little late then hit bad traffic at roadworks up the mountain.
So we where a little late to Goulburn to meet Rolls and badger.
But it was a great couple of days.
Potato had to get home early today so he left before most of us where up. So i hope you had a good run home. And thats why he isnt in many of the photos that ill post up later.
On the run home today, we went up the princess hwy, then decided instead of wollongong, we went up kangaroo valley...thanks Baz, im glad we did. not wet at all and no traffic..had a great run up the mountain.
There where some pretty awsome roads on both days.
So again, thanks to all that came for a great ride.
Stay tuned for the next weekend away early in the new year. Its going to be another cracker.

it was good and apologies for having to bolt unexpectedly - didnt get wet either thankfully and i thought i would get soaked. while all the bandits look good of course, Peter's bike looks particularly nifty i thought

We were only 12 minutes late, and we didn't hold you up on the Mt Victoria - Oberon Section did we?
It was the road works and traffic over the Blue Mountains that did the damage.
Just for the record, I reset my trip meter at Penrith on the way home, I did 184km extra each way.
Dave and I made it home safe about 5:30.
Thanks for a great trip, what a great bunch of blokes, must be their exquisite taste in motorcycles.
We didn't get rained on but we went through just after a downpour on the first half of the F3, which added mud to the layer of bugs.
When can we do it again!

You Newcastle guys seem like you love the long distance stuff.
I take my helmet off to you two .. I know I was certainly "rode out when I got home"
I'd like to up north next time

Sorry pete. i thought you where a bit later than that. my apologies then. either way, you didnt out do me and my bro for the bday ride
Thats one thing i forgot. the bug storm for about 10km. i think matt copped the worst at the front.
Next time, probably in feb or march, we will do a run up north for the weekend.
Me and pete were talking today about a route up. so we will discuss more later on about it.

Thanks Baz, I was "over-it" by then, too.

Just a couple of photos, I didn't take as many as I planned.
From the "time-stamp" it looks like we left Penrith about 0930.
Short break at Oberon, about 1200 Hmmmmm even Google thinks that should only take 2 hours.
From the Motel looking across Wagonga Inlet.
Looks like a beautiful place, pity it started to rain just after I took this shot from the Golf Course, luckily it had stopped raining by the time we finished breakfast

I just got an email from my brother David.
I think he enjoyed the ride as much as we did.
David wrote:It seems I’m not allowed to reply in the national rides forum so can you thank them for me ....
From the guy on the strange looking bandit!
Cheers

Re: Bandit weekender meet 30/10/10 - 31/10/10
It was good to meet a few of you and put a face to names. I'm sorry I couldn't at least have ridden down to Narooma but at the present life is getting in the way of living and (my) time is compressing daily. Hopefully I'll win the lottery soon, but having my luck it will only bring a new set of problems.
It was good to see that the weather was kind enough. I thought I was in for a drenching just as I got to Bungendore. The wind dropped along with the temperature and a half dozen drops hit me, but I still got home dry.
Tony.

Pete, tell Dave he is more than welcome on any of these rides and future overnighters.
Its good that he has a unique looking bandit..cant all have the same thing.
Rolls, was good to meet you. And i must appologise for running late. Meant we couldnt have much of a chat at lunch...we just had to eat and go.
But next time we will get there on time, i promise.
