Misc Nature Photo's Thread
First topic message reminder :
Since yesterdays off topic hijacking of re-cycled's ride thread, Gus and I have been challenging each other via PM to post our best nature photo.
I'm sure he wont mind if anyone else joins in. There's some good snappers amongst us.
No prizes. Just share your best work.
Rules;
I think we'll limit it to one pic each per day
Anything to do with nature.
No photoshopping except for basic adjustments.
If you're a professional you should declare it in the post.
Max 1000 pixels wide.
Description optional.
Here's the big G's effort today. Taken at home today.
Here's mine. Taken at Walhalla last year
Come on, join in

Hope it is not a jumping jack? They are angry little things that do not care what size its prey is. Humans do not scare this fella.
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
I've seen these ants on sandy tracks all along NSW central coast, normally ants go about their business oblivious of humans, these ones stop and turn to watch you as you go past. This one is about 2cm long.

Sounds like a Inch Ant. One of the F*&^ing things bit me last week at work. Right on the soft underarm skin at the back of my arm pit. Fuck it was painful!Re-Cycled wrote:I've seen these ants on sandy tracks all along NSW central coast, normally ants go about their business oblivious of humans, these ones stop and turn to watch you as you go past. Thanks Dave. No tripod. A rocky wall and a pen in my pocket used to level the camera.
Lucky the Nikon has a light trigger.
About 25 seconds exposure.
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
It's a ripper. Good enough for the 2013 calendar, especially with your black Bandit in the bottom right corner.

Gee do I have to ride to Portland and reshoot?Ewok1958 wrote:It's a ripper. Good enough for the 2013 calendar, especially with your black Bandit in the bottom right corner.
I do have a full moon idea though. And the beauty is the bike doesn't have to be spotless

Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
I went for a bit of a drive after work on Thu looking for unusual locations to set the Bandit for our next calendar.
I have an idea that involves moonlight and LED torches but need a special backdrop. Anyway my photos are always better in my head
Here's a couple from my location scouting.

Climbing over rocks on the edge of a cliff in bike gear is interesting. Just please Mr Seagull decided to stay still...
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Got this unusual silhouette on my morning walk, anyone care to guess what type of birds they are?

A bit too exotic, it was near Coffs Harbour.
