Misc Nature Photo's Thread
First topic message reminder :
Since yesterdays off topic hijacking of re-cycled's ride thread, Gus and I have been challenging each other via PM to post our best nature photo.
I'm sure he wont mind if anyone else joins in. There's some good snappers amongst us.
No prizes. Just share your best work.
Rules;
I think we'll limit it to one pic each per day
Anything to do with nature.
No photoshopping except for basic adjustments.
If you're a professional you should declare it in the post.
Max 1000 pixels wide.
Description optional.
Here's the big G's effort today. Taken at home today.
Here's mine. Taken at Walhalla last year
Come on, join in

No they didn't
Good to see this thread getting some attention though, one of our best. Keep up the good work, especially the newbies.

And then cropped to really show off the bee. I did run this image through a filter as well.

As long as the subject is not moving it is brilliant.
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Hi All,
can I humbly request when you post a photo can ypu type under the photo what the camera settings were please? (If you know them)
The reason I ask - I have a Fujifilm finepix S2000HD and no matter what I set it to, the photos, (partiurlarly the indoor moving shots) are not what I would call good quality.
And if I can get a tip or 2 from here it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
This photo was taken a long time ago and I dont know the camera settings, bad example after my earlier request.

Mate your camera has a host of manual settings and quite a few good reviews so it should work for you.
One thing I would try is to manually set the ISO. I would go for ISO 400 which should give you reasonable shutter speed in low light. Compact "super zooms" suffer at full zoom in low light too so try to use less zoom in those situations.
Make sure you are saving shots at the highest settings if you have a choice.
Your editing software should be able to show EXIF data. Use that to see if there is a pattern is the poor shots (same zoom/shutter speed etc)
You won't get the consistency of a DSLR but you should get respectable shots similar to Ross's recent ones although he says his indoor or moving shots are below par too.
If you're stuck I'm happy for you to email me a couple of originals and I'll have a look.
I'm not a pro and some of mine here are out of a couple of point and shoots and a FinePix S5500 (4mp)

Daisy. High Pass filter via Paint.net to clean up the image. I shot this with my Nikon Coolpix L810. Using the inbuilt macro settings

Nice Ross, I too took advantage of the great weather today.

Canon S3is on Super Macro (you could tell it was super; it was wearing a cape!)

This afternoon shot from my front yard. I have also started to watermark my photos. This one has been run through graphics program.

I can't believe the guy on the radio said that fire was destroying our beautiful bush.
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Fire actually encourages the native plants to drop their seeds, hence the regrowth after being decimated by fire. Love your photo!
