First topic message reminder :

No prizes. Just share your best work.

I think we'll limit it to one pic each per day
Anything to do with nature.
No photoshopping except for basic adjustments.
If you're a professional you should declare it in the post.

Here's the big G's effort today. Taken at home today.
Here's mine. Taken at Walhalla last year
Come on, join in

No macro needed for this although, I'm seriously looking for a macro lens to join that exclusive club. I've even asked Santa

I'm checking out that Tamron lens
The Tammy is a great little macro and also nice portrait lens with good bokeh. I now have the Canon EF 100 macro. The Nikon 105 macro is by all accounts an excellent lens, but, it all comes down to how much you want to spend. Once you start macro, you will be hooked. It is a great genre.

The 90mm Tamron looks like it retails at the upper end of $400. Thats about as far as I'd be allowed to stretch the relationship
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
You wont regret it 2WA. They are a great macro lens. Take your D90 down to your local camera shop and try one out.

Great shot Chris! excellent saturation and DOF. With Insects and Macro try to photograph them front on or side on as it gives the insect a 3D feel and when you have your Macro lens practice on their eyes, difficult but rewarding may also pay to put some Vaseline on your on board flash (diffuser, make sure you wipe it off after use) and use it when photographing from the side or below.
You are doing well mate.

Thanks Chris & Hammy. The bastards refused to smile front on
I shot 188 frames in about 30 mins and finished up using about 8 of them
Didnt try the flash so will have a go and use the vas next time. Thanks for the tip

Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Nice Peter. Sometimes a chopper (not HD lol) is needed.
They might have to go on my list of "one days"

Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Nice shots Peter, up near Grafton isn't it? would have been great to see them after the rain.
You kept 8 out of 188, try hard not to rub it in mate, I am sometimes happy to keep that many out of 2000.

Great colours Chris. I'm going to try to get some Smokey sunsets this summer. They won't be with the Nikon though.
8 out of 188 just mean I'm not as fussy
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Thanks for that Chris, I have been wondering about the extra some of us Geriatrics aren't quite au fait with the complexities of computers yet.

I don't think the camera is a problem, I shoot all my Subsets and Sunrises in Manual Mode and underexpose the shit out of them or if over exposed I back of the exposure slider in PS, many of my images are taken on Canon's very early Rebel XT which I first bought in 2005
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/
despite having over 160,000 shutter rotations it still works perfectly, Canon originally gave its shutter life as 30,000 rotations and when I took it in for a service 3 years ago they checked the rotations counter then rang me and wanted to buy it back as they had never seen one go so long but it was my first DSLR and I kept it.

The image below is of the Monitor HMS Cerberus in Half Moon Bay Melbourne taken on the 350 XT in 2005 and that is not half the Camera your Nikon is.
