New Model Bandit 2015
Just read in the latest AMCN magazine that Suzuki is applying for a patent for a "Single Throttle Body" engine design to be implemented on their GSX S and F series bikes.
They say this design is similar to car engines and has a reduction of peak power but can gain in Torque figures. Production costs can be reduced and different configurations of engine design can be acheived, leading to the possibility of a new model.
Supposedly this will coincide with the release of new Bandit models in 2015 of possible the 650cc and 1250cc designs.
What does everyone think of this?
The current shape has been in production since its release in 2006, so 9 years for a new models sounds about right.
I like the current model, but what features/shapes should a new Bandit have?

Re: New Model Bandit 2015
Good news. Now the bad news. Current Bandits value will sink even lower.
Improvements: The seat for starters. Headlights. Better shocks F&R. Better brakes. Probably go to 1400cc. Oh, and better paint work.

Probably one of the biggest gripes I have heard is the weight factor of the current model .

Lets revive This Thread and the Bandit in current form is 50kg heavier than it should be
Re: New Model Bandit 2015
I don't think we are going to get what we want . Less performance , less production costs = cheap but nothing to get excited about .
Id be willing to pay more if I got LESS WEIGHT ,better finish . Actually I wouldn't ,the bandit needs a total revamp . 3 cyl with 125 hp thanks .
Yamaha have seen the light , come on Suzuki, time to be daring, something different please .

A total revamp like a new version of the rotary? 3 cylinders aren't all that.
I'd love to see a better version of the GSR750 with proper suspension and what not from the GSXR. Even a Banana swinger like on the old RGV would look pretty cool, or single side swinger like on the VFR Hondas/Triumph sprint ST

Re: New Model Bandit 2015
I think keeping close to the Bandit roots is always good and my first memories of the original Bandit in 96? was a large capacity bike with a minimal fairing at the front that looked quite comfortable and with the reputation of a "hoon" machine.
Lately the Bandit has mellowed a bit and iI think the new one needs a bit of the mongrel back.
Keep the 4cyl but put it on a diet and get it down to around 190kg,
Add some upside down gold forks,
maybe a redesigned fairing to be reminiscent of the original Bikini fairing,
the colour scheme should be simple, plain colours with no stripes or swirls, the black, maroon, british racing green, navy etc are nice - keep them similar
apart from that, keep the components and rear sets etc pretty standard as they are easy for parts and do they job and keeping the price reasonable.
if you want to customize then do so, if you want get exotic, buy MV or Ducati or Aprilia's.
The Bandit has always been the 'run of the mill' Suzuki that has never been anything flash and shouldn't try to be. Its a good, honest bike that just does what it is supposed to do, this philosophy should remain.
I agree that a limited edition (R type) Bandit would be nice with a few more bells and whistles on it.
Im pretty open to some cosmetic changes, but i'd like it to have a bit of the original model style in there.
Wait and see!

I remain hopeful that Yamaha comes good with the FJ900 - a sports tourer using the MT09 triple motor. Might even be shaft drive...

Re: New Model Bandit 2015
I`m with truck bandit.
The bandit is a far cry from what a bandit was all about. I can`t see me ever buying a water cooled jobby. I`m not saying its a bad bike, but its nothing like they were.
I mean, they used to be the stunt riders choice, I can`t see the current models having this perception amongst the masses.
I always saw the bandit as a tinkers bike. something you can custom to suit your self.
As for Gus`s comment on the 3 pot, after ridding an MT09.... This is an awesome bike, and I would have one in a heart beat, if it wasn`t for the dumb arse 14L tank, What are they thinking?
