Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
First topic message reminder :
Ok, here's my thoughts on a Bandit meet up for 2015.
As per the topic title, Parkes is the meeting place. The time is March 6-8 2015. The Coachman Hotel/Motel is where we have booked in to stay.
I'm thinking of a 180 odd km ride on the Saturday that encompasses Manildra, Cudal, Eugowra, Forbes & back to Parkes.
JTB has also suggested a ride out to Temora as there is a aviation show on at the Temora airfield. (I hope I got that right)
Anyone interested in this?
Cheers, Kiwisteve
For anyone that hasn't seen this post before, I've done a heap of editing to simplify things.

Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
I had a quick look at the tourist info for Lake Cargellogo and I think I might stick with my first plan and check out the Aviation Museum Temora.
Its about 200km from Parkes to Temora, and again a couple of different ways to get there and back, just another option if anyone wants to head south instead of west on Saturday morning. As I'll be leaving Canberra about 9am that puts me in Temora about lunch time, a couple of hours on site for gawking and a bite of lunch should put us back in Parkes about 4pm.

I aint stopping at Condobolin alot of indigenous issues there, plus beer and the pool beats straight roads and fliesHammy wrote:madmax wrote:Hammy wrote:Not much talk about what we want to do on the Saturday. I propose a ride out to Lake Corelligo. 194km. A rest stop at Condobolin. 101km. So roughly 4 hours riding with a couple of hours at the lake.
Just a suggestion. I'm open to any other options. I have seen the "Dish". I don't think it would have changed much. JMO.
See ya all real soon.
Maybe something like this then? That way we're not coming back down the same route
And I'm agreeing with you about the dish, being as it is only 25k from Parkes. Its not worth tying Saturday up with a short trip like that.
That's why I suggested earlier to maybe include the dish, for those who want to, on Friday arvo.
That's fine. Still plenty of time to do that in a day. Then get back and drag JC's lifeless corpse out of the pool. The lake looks interesting on goggle maps (photo). The "Dish" visit does not take too long. As you can only view it from the outside and there is just a souviner shop with a few displays.

After you leave us Friday Barry, we'll be doing the West Wyalong-Parkes stretch, Sunday when we leave we'll be travelling that exact route on the way to Narrandera, not sure if I want to do all of that twice.barry_mcki wrote:I had a quick look at the tourist info for Lake Cargellogo and I think I might stick with my first plan and check out the Aviation Museum Temora.

How about a ride to Bathurst and a group ride around the track?

Another option, 370km round trip and should not double up on the roads for the SA group.
I'd do Bathurst again, would be good to get a picture of Axel hanging out of the sidecar coming through the Dipper, might even keep all wheels on the ground

Looks like Recycled and I will be heading along Bylong Valley Way to Mudgee, Wellington then Parkes.
Leaving Friday morning.
Get in touch if you would like to ride with us.
Yes that's right, I now have changed my plans so I will be attending!
Bosco selfishly wants the big Queen size bed all to himself,
has anyone got a spare bed or should I try for a room of my own?
Erm, has anyone suggested the Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo?
Just thinking out loud.

I'll bring a pack of cards - I could play 500 all day if there is a foursome!

It's not a Safari Park like the one that used to be near Raymond Terrace.
They had free admission for "Pommys on push bikes" :lol;

Euchre is for the kindy kids, so yes, we can play that until you graduate! Then, after 6 hours of 500, I'll teach you bridge (but 500 is more fun than bridge IMHO).

Sounds like our Xmas afternoons at grandma's place. She always won at cards, best swindler going, and she never got caught
Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
I can't remember the last time I played 500, definitely not since my father passed away 20 years agoEwok1958 wrote:I'll bring a pack of cards - I could play 500 all day if there is a foursome!

The Dish is on the north side of Parkes.

Show's how good my memory is, I could have sworn it was between Parkes and Forbes
Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
Cups a tea, 500, Nana naps. Some of you blokes need to book into a retirement home. I thought I was meeting up with a bunch of bikers. Didn't know it was an old age pokies bus tour.

Hammy i said if is hot and i mean that energy sapping dry heat that comes straight off the interior ask lyn she will tell you. And as for tea i dont drink tea it was more sit by the pool drink beer and a game of cards and then sit in the pool drink beer and play cards but if the temps are lower i will touring. By the way those roads look very straight which usual means squaring off my new tyres that is definatley a worry so bathurst might get my vote

No, no, you stay by the pool Jim. And close to the pharmacist. I think the Bingo starts at 1 and you wouldn't want to miss that.

Bathurst is only a photo opportunity, otherwise just a slow ride around a 60k street
