A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
First topic message reminder :
Folks,
I notice that it is about 2,000 - 2,100 kms from Adelaide to Brisbane (or Brisbane to Adelaide - take your pick). So what you might ask? Well, it offers an opportunity for many of us forum members to meet up somewhere roughly in the middle (don't ask me exactly where - I'm making this up as I go) - but it would have to be roughly half way. I know any kind of ride like this wouldn't suit the sandgropers, NT, NZ, USA, Italy, Greece, Sweden, etc members but that's just a fact of life with a country the size of Europe. I'm not talking about this year but what if we decided to have a big Bandit forum get together somewhere in the Spring/Summer of 2013? That should give enough advance notice for the wheels to be put in motion, surely. I'm quite happy to organise it.
Update (7Mar13):
Details are:
Date: 1 - 3 November 2013 (ie Friday nigtht & Saturday night for those wanting a two night stay)
Place: Cowra
Accommodation options: Option 1 - The Imperial Hotel (02 634102588) (prices start at $65 for a single room but are as low as $115 for an ensuite room with 1 dbl and 2 sgl beds). There are also ensuite rooms for two at $100 per room (1 dble, 1 sgl). Option 2 the Sovereign Inn (02 6342 1055) (price is $69 per person twin share or $127 for a single). It is directly opposite the Imperial across Kendal St - both look good. Book individually. Special group price will apply to all, irrespective of individual bookings.
Plans: Individuals organise their own rides to and from (with other members or solo, as preferred). Groups meet up at accommodation. Day trip to Bathurst for those interested on Saturday for a few laps of the circuit. Counter lunch in Bathurst. Pub meal in Cowra Sat night. Departure Sunday AM.

I'm not sure what a full night on lemon, lime and bitters will do to a bloke - I've never tested that. I might the sickest of the lot of us! Or wet the bed.
Perhaps we should notionally aim to be at Mt Panorama at say 10.45 - 11.00. That should give us time to sleep in, sober up, find breaky, and ride up there from Cowra.
Mr Masher: my mobile number is in the thread above (not too far back). Maybe give me a ring Sat AM but I reckon we should be able to manage the above times.

Bathurst is only 85km from Cowra, so
it's not gonna take us long to get there.

Don't tell the kids! I'll try drinking a few bottles of it between now and Friday. I might even get used to it.

Cascade do a "Beer" that is 0%. I don't know why, they just do ! You could drink that just to look the part. I can just see the headline in the Cowra local paper. " Bikies Hit Town. Leader Drinks Lemon Lime & Bitters " Local sargent says, "Crisis over".Ewok1958 wrote:Don't tell the kids! I'll try drinking a few bottles of it between now and Friday. I might even get used to it.

ok will be at mt panorama after 11 - i will get your number ewok. speaking of cascade, i usually drink cascade premium as it's my favourite beer. i went to the beer shop the other day to get a case and whoops there's no green ones but they have a new rehashed cascade. for $40 for 16 bottles. so i bought 24 VB instead for $37.

Some of you blokes might find you are offered a different type of raspberry than the drinking type when Ewok catches up with you

Well Guys n Gals, it's gettin' mighty close. Today and right now, 5:49pm , REAL TIME. It is preverbally pissing down with a good show of lightning and thunder as well. So nice of the weather Gods to clean the roads for John & I when we embark on our journey tomorrow. It is blowing as well which is a good thing. Should be all off shore by morning. My bags are almost all packed and the mighty silver beast is primed and ready to go. See ya's all soon for a weekend to remember.
ps. Can anyone think of something that I have forgotten ?

I decided I'd put my tools in the inside pannier, hmm that weighs a bit I thought when finished, out with the scales ... 17 kg, Givi warning sticker says Max weight not to exceed 10kg ... feels like I'm at the Jetstar check-in moving things from one bag to the next.
Now do I really need that 1" drive socket set

Why do you think I'm now working on the panniers ?
Sidecar has got to carry all the extra fuel I'll need to get up north.

I would - but they won't fit (and I couldn't afford the excess baggage anyway)
(these two have a combined weight of 230kg)

Re: A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
You're probably on the road by now Hammy, but safe riding to you and John, and that extends to all who are heading to Cowra.
I set off after lunch, just a short trip of 80km to get the cobwebs out, with the big days being tomorrow and Friday.
