A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
First topic message reminder :
Folks,
I notice that it is about 2,000 - 2,100 kms from Adelaide to Brisbane (or Brisbane to Adelaide - take your pick). So what you might ask? Well, it offers an opportunity for many of us forum members to meet up somewhere roughly in the middle (don't ask me exactly where - I'm making this up as I go) - but it would have to be roughly half way. I know any kind of ride like this wouldn't suit the sandgropers, NT, NZ, USA, Italy, Greece, Sweden, etc members but that's just a fact of life with a country the size of Europe. I'm not talking about this year but what if we decided to have a big Bandit forum get together somewhere in the Spring/Summer of 2013? That should give enough advance notice for the wheels to be put in motion, surely. I'm quite happy to organise it.
Update (7Mar13):
Details are:
Date: 1 - 3 November 2013 (ie Friday nigtht & Saturday night for those wanting a two night stay)
Place: Cowra
Accommodation options: Option 1 - The Imperial Hotel (02 634102588) (prices start at $65 for a single room but are as low as $115 for an ensuite room with 1 dbl and 2 sgl beds). There are also ensuite rooms for two at $100 per room (1 dble, 1 sgl). Option 2 the Sovereign Inn (02 6342 1055) (price is $69 per person twin share or $127 for a single). It is directly opposite the Imperial across Kendal St - both look good. Book individually. Special group price will apply to all, irrespective of individual bookings.
Plans: Individuals organise their own rides to and from (with other members or solo, as preferred). Groups meet up at accommodation. Day trip to Bathurst for those interested on Saturday for a few laps of the circuit. Counter lunch in Bathurst. Pub meal in Cowra Sat night. Departure Sunday AM.

Hey Guys, Ops. And Gals. Does anyone out there know of a great place to stop overnight that would be around 250 - 300 kms northwards of Cowra. That would be John and my target for the first days travel down to the Big Bandit Get Together Extravaganza, Preverably a cosy country pub with cold beer, good tucker and pretty barmaids. I'm sure that someone has come across a good one on their travels. Cheers.

Which way are you going down to Cowra Hammy?
If you're going inland, try one of the 2 pubs at Coolah.
I haven't stayed at either, but camped in the Coolah caravan park last year

I haven't stayed there but Denman Hotel is a place that is popular as an overnighter for those doing the Bylong Valley Way, a sweet road but be careful. That road will lead you through the towns of Rylstone and Kandos and then onto the Castlereagh Hwy take that to Ilford and turn right toward Sofala, great road big fast sweepers but it does tighten up nearer Sofala. The take the road to Bathurst and Cowra.

Probably looking like the Newell Hyw to go down. Stopping at Coonabarabran on the Thursday night. About 720 kms. Have alreadu sussed out a pub to stay in. The Imperial Hotel, right in the heart of town. Supposed to have the best tucker and the woman I spoke to said that we can park our bikes in the beer garden overnight. It's getting closer.

I'm still intending to go. I am trying to sell where I live and make a country change, close to Cowra. I just hope nothing gets in the way of this gettogether for me.

I should be able to get there for the Saturday and camp overnight at the pub. Its only a couple of hours ride for me. Look forward to meeting everyone if work commitments permit. I'd just like to clarify which pub your all booked in at? is it The Imperial or the one opposite? Cheers Jimmy.

I think your arms are pretty safe Hammy. Now, I know its way to early to ask this but if someone could organise a time to leave Cowra for the Bathurst day trip that would be fantastic as I would love to go but Im leaving from Wagga so Im 2-2.5 hrs behind. So if I know your leaving at 8.30 I can leave at 6. Thanks guys, Jimmy.

I'm thinking we probably wouldn't leave until about 9.30am - after all, got to recover from Friday and have breaky. And there is no hurry as we have all day.Jimmy the Boy wrote:I think your arms are pretty safe Hammy. Anyone coming from Sydney I suggest 9.30am depart on saturday 2nd Nov from McGrath Hill maccas then Bells Line of Road to Mt Victoria, Oberon and lunch at O'Connell pub at about midday then a short run into Bathurst and the mountain and after that head into Cowra.

Less than 8 weeks to go guys n gals , so if you are thinking of going, hurry up and make your mind up. The more the merrier. I see that Bathurst is about 85 ks from Cowra. So that will be a nice little ride on the Saturday together with anywhere else that would be of interest. By the way. Less than 2 weeks until my eye operation.
