Trivia .....
First topic message reminder :
What does everone think about a TRIVIA thread
Stuff that maybe of no use to most people but really handy to the others. Maybe a good DVD ,something they have made, seen ,heard of ,
cooked ,been too .Minor things that do not really warrant a post of there own.(like most of my stuff ,there beat you to it )
Like taking a tractor tyre up north to float your Bandit across a river to a football selection ,the taste of beer ,who's state is
better at Rugby League. (may be not that) .Something that may make someone else say ,"why didnt i think of that".
Good idea or just post it on "off topic discussions " or not post it at all? (feeling vulnerable now )

Re: Trivia .....
Who knows anything about law ?
What would happen if .
Three guys get kicked out of a pub for being to pissed . They hop into one car, prang into a parked one ( big damage ) and do a runner . Police know who the 3 are but do not know who was driving . All 3 say it was not me driving .
I goes to court
I can only see two results possible
A-- they all get off
B - they all loose there licenses .
Anyone got any idea ?

At a guess, if one was the registered owner he's the one who's going to cop it!

Registered owner ,stands to reason . Its your fine unless you can prove other wise . The other two get fined as well for width holding information . Three idiots for the price of one . I like it

Re: Trivia .....
My Bandit is going in to another mechanic to see what the issue is. One opinion is head gasket another says sticking valve. Just put an additive in the oil and going to see how that goes. Heres hoping.

Re: Trivia .....
What is a sticking valve . Cam pushes it down ,piston would push it back up (if stuck, is that possible ,i dont think so, bloody springs do a good job ) Head-gasket just joins head to barrels to keep compression in .

Not common but sticking valves are real Gus.gus wrote:What is a sticking valve . Cam pushes it down ,piston would push it back up (if stuck, is that possible ,i dont think so, bloody springs do a good job ) Head-gasket just joins head to barrels to keep compression in .
Usually from either excess carbon build up or extremely worn valve guides

yep, that bit doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense, I've never heard of a Bandit with sticky valves either but never say nevergus wrote:Just seems strange . Sticking valves Or a head gasket . Do not see how the both, are similar .

The bike has been making a noise like a release of air or a defensve or angry cat is how i would describe it. A noise like "Pffft" semi regularly, sometimes 4-5 times per 10 seconds, sometimes 2-3 times a minute, at idle is when I notice it. Sound like it is coming from upper head area between the 4 x carbs somewhere. I can't pinpoint where it is coming from by sight, noise or feel. it's weird.
First mechanic said it was a head gasket leak. I think he said that because there was a small oil leak around the head gasket which has been there for many a year so it is possible. Verbal price to fix was $1000 for the head gasket or up to $3000 ish if the head was cracked and whatever extra work that involved.
Second mechanic is old school, very experienced and highly regarded in Townsville biking community, listened to it and diagnosed a sticking valve. He thought it would be making the noise all the time if it was a gasket and he'd never heard of a Bandit with a cracked head.
Neither of the above can do the job - first mechanic is a Harley Specialist and second is booked solid for the next month or two.
I'm taking it to the local suzuki shop for their diagnosis.
The oil addditive I put in seems to have lessened the release noise regularity by about 50%.

Hey I really the appreciate the responses and suggestions Gents, but I am not a mechanics little finger so I'm going to discuss these to the mechanic next week and hope he is able diagnose and fix it for a reasonable price.
The noise seems to be coming from the carby side of the head, and I thought I could feel the air escaping last week but unable to find the air this week.
I will definitely keep yas in the loop once it is properly diagnosed and fixed (or worse).
Thanks All.

Its more of a guess between ourselves as to what the problem is . We really have no idea ,as we have not seen ,or hear it , but we are interested to find out what it is .

A bent valve will do it too
