Trivia .....
First topic message reminder :
What does everone think about a TRIVIA thread
Stuff that maybe of no use to most people but really handy to the others. Maybe a good DVD ,something they have made, seen ,heard of ,
cooked ,been too .Minor things that do not really warrant a post of there own.(like most of my stuff ,there beat you to it )
Like taking a tractor tyre up north to float your Bandit across a river to a football selection ,the taste of beer ,who's state is
better at Rugby League. (may be not that) .Something that may make someone else say ,"why didnt i think of that".
Good idea or just post it on "off topic discussions " or not post it at all? (feeling vulnerable now )

Re: Trivia .....
OK, just info for anyone who cares and maybe reference material for the future generations of "Bandits with 4 carbies" owners.
I dropped my Bandit into the local Suzuki shop and they diagnosed the plastic caps on my carbies had deteriorated and cracked and that was the source of my noise like a hissing cat. the carby plastic manifold was also persishing and needed to be replaced. I'll get it back next week and will ONLY COST ABOUT $1100 including carby balance and tune.
They said the spark plugs need replacing, (They were replaced with the air cleaner a few weeks back by the Harley Specialist) I'm wondering if this is a standard practice by bike shops, like car mechanics changing wiper blades on a car for a roadworthy when they can't find anything else. I've asked for the old plugs.

Do you trust this shop, or the Harley shop? Sounds like someone has done or is going to a dodgy deal here.
I had a Ford dealer try that years ago with brake pads. I told them not to do it, that I would sort it out myself. When I took them out the next day the pads were almost new.
Obviously their plan was to charge me and do nothing......
Just remember if they are that dodgy they could source some old plugs out of the bin to show you

I rode a gsxr1100w today . The power was amazing ,as was the suspension . And it only had 16,000 on the clock . Felt like a stray cat trying to get out of a bag .

Picking up a 2013 KLR 650 this weekend . . . hopefully. Give the gentleman $100 deposit. Looks very well looked after from the photos.
Just want the option of riding a dirt road every now and then.
Photos to come when i get the bike.

More power
I recently purchased a 2012 KLR 650.
I swear, since purchasing this bike and then riding my '02 Bandit the Bandit feels at least 10 HP stronger.
Love it!

Re: Trivia .....
There are so many scams around these days , be it phone ,internet , or any other way they can think of to get their grubby mitts on your money , it has become bloody ridiculous ................... I wonder if " Paul " ( no relation to this Paul ) had hacked the website you were looking at the shock on , and that's how you joined his scam list

If you think land in Tasmania is still cheap ,think again . Everything is selling for more than people are asking in no time . We moved to Cygnet 4 years ago because it was so quiet . Not any more . Still good ,but prices are going through the roof . Bloody weather isnt helping ,it been perfect .

Re: Trivia .....
Tasmania, beautiful one day, perfect the next
Now where have I seen that saying previously?
I'm still getting around in shorts and T shirts but it might snow next week!
There are still some real estate bargains to be had but you need to bring your one string banjo, rocking chair and corn cob pipe to fit in with the locals.
How do I know this? I've met some!

Re: Trivia .....
You know when you have come across these "locals"
They either all have the same surname or worse still, don't know what a surname is!
Come to think of it, I reckon the Deliverance movie was made not far from my place

Re: Trivia .....
Tasmanians dont like to travel . If your 60 kls away ,it takes major planning . If your born on the East Coast ,thats where you stay . Never to venture west . Its useless asking a true Tasmanian directions .

Re: Trivia .....
That makes three, sadly it would have to be the worst figures for this race

Definitely not a good outcome for the event, but, it is motor racing. Those involved in the event from promoters to drivers would be aware of the risk involved. Compared to some other events, Isle of Man, it's very safe.

Re: Trivia .....
There's another Targa event run at same time but with speed restricted to 120kmh, no helmets or roll cage etc required. Cars GPS monitors speed , over 120, you're out.gus wrote:High powered cars ,on poor roads, being raced by non professional drivers . Another one ended up in a shed nearby upside down . Poor shed, hopefully no bikes or other valuables inside.
When much younger used to go WATCH speedway every weekend, that ticket basically said- dangerous motorsport spectator event, no liability for any incident.
Saw people get hit with: clay from the track, bits flying off cars when crashing, a couple of bike riders killed and one guy who tried to deflect/catch a rear wheel off a sprint car to save family killed.
