Anyone see the news?
Dumb bitch pulled out into the path of two bikes!  Shocked
Luckily there were only minor injuries, looks like both the bikes were totalled tho

Look once, look twice, look bike.
As much as we are bike aware, being riders, it is still very easy to miss a bike with a quick glance. Missing two riders, hmmmm?

I used to get angry when people failed to see me until I watched the invisible gorilla clips on the link below, try it out on a few of your rider mates, it makes for some really constructive discussions on what can be done about visibility.  Post your findings.

Hardly a real indication, the viewer is deliberately given a task that takes their attention away from black participants.

When you're driving your MAIN task is to avoid colliding with other vehicles.

So spotting bikes is more like counting the passes by the white players, if you don't see them you're not really concentrating. Crying or Very sad

And police "are yet to lay charges"!
Did you notice one of the bikes ended up up side down?
Its a good lessen for drivers who get waved through traffic like that. Don't just go when someone else says its ok to go.

I wouldn't say minor injuries! One broken leg, the other a broken pelvis. That's going to lay them up for quite awhile. Possibly affecting their jobs, livelihood and families.

And some of the comments going around Facebook astound me!
Anything from the bikes are going too fast, they should have been in the left lane. To any good rider would have foreseen that.

Always trying to blame the bike rider

Two things come to mind ...........firstly the driver needs more driving lessons , or perhaps she is just one of those drivers who shouldn't be on the road . Secondly , as important as a head turn is when changing lanes , so is added caution when passing an open gap in stationary cars .I doubt many of us who commute regularly wouldn't have been in this or a similar situation , where their road craft learned over a period of time would have sent up warning signs of possible danger that some wanker may develop tunnel vision toward their destination across the riders path & clean you up .

Yep and i don't overtake when a truckie flashes his indicator either.

In 1967 I was riding a BSA 500, unregistered and unlicensed along a reasonably quiet road behind a truck.
The truck "flashed" his right blinker which I took as an indication to overtake him - which I attempted.
Didn't I get a surprise when he did a right hand turn and I finished up under the truck.
I walked away buy the bike was a sorry sight.
To this day, I never assume a flashing right hand blinker is an indication it is safe for me to overtake.
