Should I or Shouldn't I
First topic message reminder :
I hope that this post is going into the "Introduce Yourself" section, as I am not sure that I have done all the correct clicks.
Seriously thinking of buying a used Bandit 1259, One year old, 4000 kays, new rear tire, luggage rack, after market gear selection indicator,, retard (1st 3 gears) eliminator, tank protector - - - - Price $10,500 ??
My name is Des and I live in Mildura, soon to move beck to Brisbane. I've been reading some of the comments in here and I now know it is just the right bike for me, but I'm an old fella, not that experienced, and think maybe I should go for a smaller motor - like a 650 bandit. Not sure if there is a 750 Bandit or not. Previously owned a Kawisaki ER6-N 650 twin in line. From what I gather from you guys the Bandit will be a lot better and more comfortable. - - - Love to hear your advice - er - anyone. Should I or Shoudn't I -

A sweet looking bike up close. Hada good look at one at the show on Sat. Suzuki didnt have the new 750 to look at.
Chris - I have had a look at this bike and put a bid on her we'll see how we go ?
Gee Des I'm not telling you what to buy Just making a suggestion.
Having said that they have appealed to me for a while though.
Re: Should I or Shouldn't I
Wow what an epic thread! 9 pages!
Well Des, youve gotta go with what you feel most comfortable riding. Otherwise its just not gonna be fun.
Good luck mate.

Re: Should I or Shouldn't I
And here's me thinkin I had to buy it, cos you said Chris - Truth is I've been looking for one of these - and this one seems ok It's got the right amount of Kays - it's nearly 5 yrs old The price appears to be good (as long as we don' get too many bidders. I've made a very small bid - and chances are I'll miss out. This bike would do me fine. From what I've read it starts to really go at 7000 rpm and then all hell breaks loose at 10,000 rpm until 14,000 rpm.
Thanks Whitey, I;m still strong enough to enjoy a lighter bike, and a fur cylinder 600 cc screamer is exactly my cup of tea. Haven't got it yet though

Thanks Chris - there have been no other bids as yet - but I may be below his reserve2wheelsagain wrote:Good luck Des
Just been for an 8 minute ride on your bike with you Yeah I was looking through your Videos. I gotta say - Good Stuff!! I also watched the F111 - reckon you did really well in staying with him. When I was watching the bike footage you had me worried a little as I though maybe you were riding faster than you liked for the sake of the film - be careful. Also on the bile run I full Screened it and the picture stayed strong and clear - that must be a broadcast quality camera - your shots have come out really well. You did tell me what it was but I've lost track of where. Being as I look like spending almost half the price I intended on a bike I migh tuse the change on a decent movie camera.
I would recommend anyone who's looking for a pleasant 1/2 hr to take a gander at 2wheels video links.
Only 2 days to go before the bidding stops

Re: Should I or Shouldn't I
Suzuki magic called me yesterday to tell me she had an hour to sell it. Ok then, good luckdesdd57 wrote:Is it at the bike shop now?
Att Reardo - The bike is at the shop now - I have elected not to take the risk of me being strong enough. So that anyone who buys it before closing time on Tuesday 30th Nov - can have it for $10,000.00c (10G) ride away no more to pay. If you or a mate are interested in this brand new Bandit 1250 semi naked Dark Blue bike Go for it. The on roads come back on Wednesday. The purchaser can also have any extras they want at 15% discount - ;like Tank Guards, baggage racks, throttle locks etc etc. $10G
It's a bargain - but I just can't handle it with joy

Re: Should I or Shouldn't I
Des, have you considered a 2000 model Monster 750 (M1). Only 31,000km. Lady owner since 2002 (8000km) Metalic Blue, gold frame and rims, twin discs up front, braided lines, single seat cowl and Staintune Pipes (we have the originals as well)?
Only joking.......kind of....see my thread about the GSX650F power and torque.

Hi Des and thanks for the commercial
I'll keep posting videos as long as someone likes watching them.
Don’t worry though the low camera position is designed to look faster than it is. I've been riding too long to continue at 110%. These days I'm happy at 80 - 85%. It hurts to much otherwise.
Happy to discuss a particular scene if anything in particular worried you. Always happy to hear feedback and riding on my own I can get a little lazy without comparing to others.
Anyway the later videos were shot in 1080p and uploaded as 720p MP4 as that’s what vimeo.com require. They look ok on the site but are better at full size on a telly
It’s a Drift Innovations Drift HD170. There is a pic of it in one of the Beverley's Rd videos. Part 2 I think. Its actually back for a warranty job at the moment. It developed a couple of missing pixels in the middle of the frame at 720p and several at SD. No problems dealing with an Aussie dealer even though I bought it from the US on eBay. I'm expecting it back tomorrow and I have also ordered a new clamp for the rear facing video. Should be a bit less exhaust and I should be able to mount it on the grab rail too for a new angle.
I have a couple more rides planned to video on the bike and a road trip over Christmas in the car so there'll be a few more to come. Just think of it as my contribution to the cure for insomnia!
In my opinion the choice of camera for most people is between the Drift or the GoPro. Drift has better video. GoPro has better audio (they say). If you buy one look at both and get decent commercial editing software (Pinnacle Studio for me).
Thanks for the compliments.
The seller should negotiate with you if the bike didnt make reserve.
There's not many around and its worth what the bidder is prepared to pay regardless of what the seller wants.

Des, do you know about auction sniper? (www.auctionsniper.com). Its a utility that will place a winning bid for you preset time, (the default is 7 secs before auction ends), up to a preset limit. I saves you from starting a biding war. My wife and I have been using it for a couple of years now and we love it. First 3 winning bids are free.
Cheers Peter

I didn't know about that one ! I'll bet the auctioneers don't like it? Their whole purpose is to start a bidding war. Thanks Peter I'll check that one out

Wont seem long though, when you look back on time it's always quick. Thing is the bike will end up in QLD where I am going, - saving an extra trip.

Re: Should I or Shouldn't I
Got a PM from Des saying he's enjoying the GSR600 but I think he's thinking of a H900 now.
He sounds to be going ok for a "senior" fellow
I guess he should have posted saying "He Didn't"

Lovin It
Still got the Suzi 600,have put 4000k on it since I last posted here. I need to rep;ace the tank, becuase the water drain pipe from the filler area is puting water straight into the tank. A new tank fitted is over $1000 bucks ? I think I could fit it myself if I could get hold of a s/hand one.
@wheels is right - I do fancy the Honda Hornet , A lght immaculately behaved bike that goes like the wind - in fact - it may even burn off a 1250 Bandit
Hope all you guys are well - thanks for all your friendly advice and encouragement in the past
