First topic message reminder :

I hope that this post is going into the "Introduce Yourself" section, as I am not sure that I have done all the correct clicks.

Seriously thinking of buying a used Bandit 1259, One year old, 4000 kays, new rear tire, luggage rack, after market gear selection indicator,, retard (1st 3 gears) eliminator, tank protector - - - - Price $10,500 ??

My name is Des and I live in Mildura, soon to move beck to Brisbane. I've been reading some of the comments in here and I now know it is just the right bike for me, but I'm an old fella, not that experienced, and think maybe I should go for a smaller motor - like a 650 bandit. Not sure if there is a 750 Bandit or not. Previously owned a Kawisaki ER6-N 650 twin in line. From what I gather from you guys the Bandit will be a lot better and more comfortable. - - - Love to hear your advice - er - anyone. Should I or Shoudn't I -

Well I have ridden a few bikes in Brisbane - and will head back to Mildura tomorrow... In Mildura there is a Blue Bandit which was offered to me for $10,600 - no more to pay - but I have had news from them that they will be able to reduce it further - due to Suzuki coming into the act with on roads, up until the end of November. I am thinking that that may be too good an offer to refuse - but it's blue - not black.

If I buy it - I will be taking it to Tasmania for a month - If I can load it up with all my stuff. So I guess the ans is - still looking - but getting cornered

I hear you, and I am probably more frustrated than I have ever been also. I've never been this hesitant??!! But old age brings it's cautions, and I aint got a lot of the do ray me stuff - a mistake would be tragic - but I do hear you - and wish that it would all fall into place.

The next few days will make a difference - I think

Hi Reardo -Yes I guess that looks a bit confusing, but we are talking about 2 different bikes - both in Mildura

1. Is a black 2nd hand bike - with very low klms and quite a few extras, including Rear luggage rack, tank guard, a device that allows the computer to use as much advance as it likes on second and third gear & gives a visual gear selected display, plus more. I think the price was around the $10,000 or less mark (it will be in one of these posts)

2 Is a Dark blue new bike with no extras and made in 09 - it has no mileage - there are a few of these around in various Suzuki shops some are plated this year, some last year. I guess they don't want them around for the new model coming out.

Neither of these bikes have ABS. I came across a few in Brisbane that are $500 to $1000 dollars dearer than the blue bike but have ABS.

Yeah Chris - and getting closer worries me - as I am still convinced that the Bandit will prove too heavy for an old dude like me. Never mind - they have one for me to take a ride on on Monday - a privately owned bike - that should either crush all my fears or scare me to death Smile We'll see

Do you like the bike? and do you think it may be more than a 70 yr old can handle? It's been said here that the Bandit is user friendly until you come to a stop.

My riding experience is on light bikes - I had a Kawasaki ER6n 174 kilo - whereas the Bandit comes in at a hefty 245 K. Hopefully I get to ride one tomorrow - I guess that that will tell the tale Smile

Far from it. Geometry, tyre size and profile, bar width, seat position, peg position and even engine configuration all play a roll in how a bike tips in and how it feels through a corner not to mention the obvious front to rear balance.

Is it at the bike shop now?

Att Reardo - The bike is at the shop now - I have elected not to take the risk of me being strong enough. So that anyone who buys it before closing time on Tuesday 30th Nov - can have it for $10,000.00c (10G) ride away no more to pay. If you or a mate are interested in this brand new Bandit 1250 semi naked Dark Blue bike Go for it. The on roads come back on Wednesday. The purchaser can also have any extras they want at 15% discount - ;like Tank Guards, baggage racks, throttle locks etc etc. $10G

It's a bargain - but I just can't handle it with joy

No not out of the hunt but the 1250 Bandit has proved too much for me to handle .
I am now looking at that 650 yamaha or a bandit of similar specs
