Problem of Arrow Header installation for 2011 GSF 650
Hello all! I have some problem about the installation of Arrow Header for my 2011 GSF 650. Can anyone tell me how to install between from engine to the pipe? It make me confuses about the arrangement of the Bushing, Flange and the pipe. And I found the fitting between each part is so tight, is it normal?
The following are the possible arrangement of connection.
Many Thx!
1. Engine / Bushing hole (wide<->narrow) / Flange hole (wide<->narrow) / Pipe
2. Engine / Bushing hole (wide<->narrow) / Flange hole (narrow <-> wide) / Pipe
3. Engine / Bushing hole (narrow <-> wide) / Flange hole (wide<->narrow) / Pipe

Re: Problem of Arrow Header installation for 2011 GSF 650
Confused me when I first tried installing the Arrows on my 1250, sorted it out with a bit of help from a fellow forum member:
When they are on correctly you should have a gap between the flange and the block and the springs should come out at a nice 90° and run in line with the pipe:
So I think that's option 4 on your list, the flange (bolts) holds the bushing tight into the engine exhaust port, the springs then clamp/hold the pipe into the narrow diameter of the bushing.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
Now how about an introduction seeing as Barry has already helped?

My bushing seem different to yours photo one, it is more thick. Is it possible Arrow give me the wrong parts of bushing?

Mine is a couple of years old, plus a 1250, so that could explain the differences in the bushing shape.
The idea of the bushing is to have an interference fit into the exhaust port then bolted down with the flange, that means the larger diameter part of the bushing goes into the head. The flange should sit on the lip of the bushing and is bolted down evenly to the head. The header pipe should then interference fit onto the narrow end of the bushing and sit inside the (larger) gap on the outside face of the flange. The holes for the springs in the flange should only line up one way so that the spring run in parallel with the exhaust pipe.
Here is a simple drawing, hope that explains what I mean:

I missed it was your 1st post Gsf650s, welcome, and as 2WA suggested, a intro would be good2wheelsagain wrote:Welcome to the forum by the way.
