Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
First topic message reminder :
Who's planning on doing the WSBK's in February, and who is interested in getting a house on the island?
There are plenty of options but we'd need to know who wants to join in to get a idea of what size place we'd need?

I sent a email to Philip Island to see if they knew when the dates would be confirmed, they gave no indication at all when they might be confirmed

Thanks for doing that mate, we really need to get those dates as soon as we can.
I too have given my boss a period of leave that he has pencilled in for me.

Phillip Island wrote:Media release August 18, 2015
PHILLIP ISLAND’S 2016 WORLD SUPERBIKES SLATED FOR FEBRUARY 26-28*
Australia will once again launch the Superbike World Championship, with the opening round for 2016 awarded to Victoria’s Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit and slated for next February 26-28, 2016*.
The 2016 event is set to be another Phillip Island scorcher, with the Kawasaki duo of Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes set to be on updated ZX-10Rs, Ducati now back to the peak of its powers with tough-as-nails Briton Chaz Davies, Leon Haslam back on an Aprilia, and Honda powering former world champion Sylvain Guintoli and up and coming Dutchman, Michael van der Mark.
Throw in riders like Alex Lowes, Jordi Torres and a fully fit Davide Giugliano, and it’s a recipe for another island speed spectacular.
Backing world superbike will be the world supersport boys kicking off their 2016 campaigns plus Australia’s leading road racing classes.
Phillip Island is revamping their campground to include powered sites and the new layout means Go Karts will operate all world superbike weekend for some extra fun.
There’s plenty of high-horsepower plans afoot, so plan now for a summer weekend away with mates next February at the supers - all at a totally affordable price.
Tickets go on sale early September. For further information go to www.worldsbk.com.au
*Subject to FIM Ratification

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
I am seriously thinking of doing the WSB at PI next Feb. I have committed myself to a meet on the Oxley, March 5-6. So it could all come together but probably will have to miss the SA meet. If anyone wants to share accommodation at PI for 2-3 nights I would be up for that. Ewok and I got a great deal on a motel last time.
Chook. I have put the feelers out with the guys on another site, about a SuperBikes meet. If we can get some numbers together then we can see if a house would be viable.

Sounds good Hammy, I'm pretty sure madmax is interested in a house as well, I've also got a mate a bit interested (he'd probably be on his tractor if he goes but does have a V-Strom as well)Hammy wrote:

Count me in if you're counting numbers for house-sharing. I only snore a bit!

Sounds like it should come together. Who is going to be in charge of finding the accommodation ? Who lives in Vic' ? Hmmmmmmm.......... Max ! Are you a starter Max ? I think we need to get some numbers and then look for a suitable place. Maybe we start a fresh thread so that it does not get lost . Won't be long till Xmas, and then Feb 2016 will be here. I can't wait to get on some of those great roads again.

Yes I'm in
Holidays are booked, just waiting on the exact dates.
A couple of ideas were tossed around regarding accommodation in another thread. Can't really do anything until we confirm the date of the event. Tariffs are volatile at the island around these events so looking at prices now is pointless.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
A South Aussie to do the trip with would be good as well, c'mon paul, anyone else (I know Rayman has trouble getting away from work), we need more representation
Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
Too long off work is also a bit hard for me ,( plus the R.A . has been giving me shit lately & need to get it under a bit more control before thinking about a long trip on the bike) ...................but I'm working on itChook wrote:A South Aussie to do the trip with would be good as well, c'mon paul, anyone else (I know Rayman has trouble getting away from work), we need more representation

Onya Max. If we end up with only 4-5 it may be just as cheap to go a motel. Dave and I had a great one last feb. Can't remember the exact cost. Maybe Dave can. The Supers are not as big event as the GP, and the prices reflect that.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
This is an example of what we could get. Three nights, 3 people = $60 per person per night.
https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/4281933?checkin=26-02-2016&checkout=29-02-2016&guests=3&s=i4rI
AirBNB seems to have plenty of options. We'dd just need definite numbers to secure a booking.

I'd be happy with that, buy a bulk supply of bacon, sausages and eggs and breakfast and tea are sorted as wellEwok1958 wrote:This is an example of what we could get. Three nights, 3 people = $60 per person per night.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
That's it Chook. These houses often have a BBQ so throwing a few snags and steaks on with some ready made salads from the supermarket sorts dinner. Or to put that another way, gives us more $$ for beer and wine! No need to spend a fortune just because we're on the road.

It was just an example MM, I wasn't saying we should book that house. Numbers are key or else you end up with spare beds and paying too much or guys sleeping on the floor (or spooning - not on my watch!).

Yep that's why its pointless looking now. First we need dates then we need confirmed numbers.Ewok1958 wrote:It was just an example MM, I wasn't saying we should book that house. I did throw a couple of ideas around in another thread, one place slept up to 14

I only just saw what you did there so what are the dates and what sort of dollars are you mob thinking? What's a house and superbike tickets cost?

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
Good to see the interest . I like your thinking Chook and Dave. Lets do a "I'm going" list like we did for Parkes, so that we save time when the dates are confirmed. I'm in. My thoughts would be to get a house ( if we have the right number ) for the Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. But I'm willing to go with the flow.

We'd want to be in the house Thursday to be ready for Friday at the track
