First topic message reminder :
Whilst we were in Parkes there was some discussion around "the next one". The Grampians was mention as a possible area.
Happy to start the ball rolling and get the discussion happening

Totally agree, if Kaylah comes during her year 12 year it will be just for a weekend. if her mum doesn't want to do that it'll just be me whenever it happens.Hammy wrote:Exactly Max. Don't take this the wrong way people. But we organise these rides for the riders. Not for school children.

Oh well, if that's how it happens, that's how it happens. I'll have to see what I can organise.
There are a couple of us that have pillions that enjoy a ride. I personally have a pillion that would like to end up riding. But if we have people that don't like the idea of new riders entering the fold, that's fair enough.

Its not that Steve I'm sure everyone who met Zoe and Kaylah at Parkes would love it if they could come too, but its a bit hard on the rest to organise the timing of an event based solely on two "guests" (no offence intended)
There will be other rides i'm sure. I am liking Craig's idea of Mudgee for the following one. Mudgee, close to the Bylong Valley highway and of course would be after their year 12 year.
This time around we are trying to encourage those SA and Vic members who we are yet to meet, hence the reason for the southern location.

And for the record. I would not want anyone going on a long ride during a holiday period. Too much traffic.

I agree with you Max, organising an event like this around a single participant is either going to fail or never get off the ground. No weekend in the calendar is going to suit every forum member so I think a proposed date should be set and ask for a response from the group as to whether there will be enough interest. Just my thoughts, not trying to exclude anyone.madmax wrote:Kiwisteve wrote:Oh well, if that's how it happens, that's how it happens. I'll have to see what I can organise.

Hey Craig. I know it's a long way off and all, but. I could possibly meet up with you on the way south to the next event. That's if all the stars align and the planets do their thing. Just a thought.

Either that or do it the weekend after the Superbikes in February

Happy to ride with you. I have the same problem with 'Planetary misalignment' so contact me closer to the date and form a plan/route/time.Hammy wrote:Craig67 wrote:I agree with you Max, organising an event like this around a single participant is either going to fail or never get off the ground. ReCycled just posted up about his visit to the Barry Sheen Festival of Speed. It would be great if we could plan the next meet around a similar event. Not too big that it is outrageously expensive. Those smaller events are so friendly and interesting. We could spend a whole day at one. So come on you "Southern Brothers" , and Sisters. Get searching, and see what you can find. Please.

I was thinking if you wanted to make it around the WSBK in February then we skip the Grampians and have the meet at the island.
Thoughts?

Would suit me - I'll be there anyway! But the racing is on Sunday so those that have to work Monday will need to be able to get it off.

Re: Grampians Meet, 4-5-6 march 2016 (cancelled until further notice)
I'd rather have it separate but close so those that want can do both, if I could afford it I'd do both, if things were tight I'd just do the Grampians
Re: Grampians Meet, 4-5-6 march 2016 (cancelled until further notice)
Off topic but there is a Historic MC race meeting at Mac Park, Mt Gambier in October (8th-11th) if anyone wanted to have a get together
Re: Grampians Meet, 4-5-6 march 2016 (cancelled until further notice)

Is that date locked in for the Superbikes?
Re: Grampians Meet, 4-5-6 march 2016 (cancelled until further notice)
I'm seriously thinking about doing the Superbikes/National meet double if it goes ahead, I'd even seriously consider a ride over to Southern NSW/Northern Victoria prior to catch up with a few other heading down to Phillip Island from there.
Those that have been to the SB's before, what's the best way to stay? I'm pretty sure carting a tent around will be out for me unless I buy a new cheap and nasty and leave it behind. I'm guessing cheap pub accommodation etc close by would be booked out a year or so before?
Kaylah wont be able to get the time off for the whole trip (she'll be doing year 12) but we're thinking she could catch a Thursday night or Friday morning flight before the national meet and I'd pick her up at Tullamarine, then on to the meet.........
I'll need to have enough room in 1 pannier for Kaylah's clothes and most likely have to carry her jacket, boots and helmet 1/2 way around Australia on the way, that'll just leave the other pannier for me.

Re: Grampians Meet, 4-5-6 march 2016 (cancelled until further notice)
We always stay in Wanthaggi ...........the motel closer to the town centre is best ,close to shops etc ( there is other accomodation available as well ), & it doesnt take that long to commute to the track from there ,Chook wrote:I'm seriously thinking about doing the Superbikes/National meet double if it goes ahead, I'd even seriously consider a ride over to Southern NSW/Northern Victoria prior to catch up with a few other heading down to Phillip Island from there.

Couldn't she take some of her gear on the plane ?

Re: Grampians Meet, 4-5-6 march 2016 (cancelled until further notice)
mmmm, we've had that conversation, she won't carry any more than a backpack on the plane, I even suggested her shoes in the bag and wear her boots, yeh right, try telling that to a 16 year oldpaul wrote:

Once she's on the bike her riding gear would be replaced by her clothes for the weekend (teenage girl, that = enough for a week ) in the panniers
Staying in a motel would alleviate the need for any camping gear for me.
Re: Grampians Meet, 4-5-6 march 2016 (cancelled until further notice)
Anyway Paul, no romantic overseas trips next year at the national meet time? Maybe you could do the trip with me (and anyone else that wants to go).
2 days to Canberra? I'm sure we could stay at my brothers there for a night or 2 then work our way south to the Island?
