Healtech OBD tool
Not sure if any of you home mechanics have seen this one, but it could be an option instead of the SDS.
I read about it on MaxZuk of TWT a couple of days ago and have found the distributor in Oz
Less than $250 sounds like a pretty good deal if it does what it says it does (and I have no reason to doubt it) and after about it's 3rd use i recon would have paid for itself

Re: Healtech OBD tool
i'd be very interested in the thoughts you have on the healtech tool.
i don't have one and don't intend getting one as i use
this to check on things as well as clear codes. bonus is it is not limited to suzukis.
this for setting and resetting fuel loadings
and this to tell the ISC to behave while tuning.
as well as the normal array of diagnostic/servicing/fixing hardware
I've had the bike tech stuff for a bit over a year now and find it very versatile. I've helped a few fellow bike riders out (maybe I should start asking for a few $$$ ) and it makes life so quick and easy when trying to fix problems

Could sound like a dumb question but...
Would this work with the factory ECU only??
Or would it be of benefit to a bike already fitted with a Power Commander. Keeping in mind the thread regarding the balancing of throttle-bodies.
Just that in getting close to having the bandit dyno-ed again would want to make sure that it is at its optimum this time.
Regards,
Nathan

Re: Healtech OBD tool
I thought I'd post up some screen shots.
I haven't connected it to the bike as yet, I must do all my maintenance outdoors and its threatening rain this weekend.
The small amount of help documents state it is possible to balance throttles .. which I will try in future, I also bought a Morgan Carbtune prior to buying the OBD, so it will be interesting to compare the two. just waiting for clear skies.

Re: Healtech OBD tool
Looks like it can do just about all (if not all) what SDS can do. It appears as if it might be able to datalog on the move also which will prove a very useful tool (I use my toys for datalogging and it is quite useful)
You will still need the carbtune (or some other gauge) to balance the TB's. The ODB tool will assist by letting you set the ISC to a set point (if you don't then ECU takes over and adjusts as you tweek and this screws you next adjustment)

Re: Healtech OBD tool
I used mine today. Plugged it in and all went well. Everything worked as it should have and you can datalog and save things as sds files. I am going to buy some sort of tool to do a tb synch, can anyone recommend one.

Re: Healtech OBD tool
I have a morgan carbtune easy to use, no mess no fuss, cheapish and IMO a good choice for the home mechanic
some others out there are
syncpro Uses fluid (not mercury) which could lead to problems so I didn't consider it
carbmate only really does 2 cylinders at a time so i didn't consider it
twinmax same a above, only really does 2 cyls at a time
vacuummate cost put me off this one but being electronic it should be acurate
Souriau 2440 Indiana Same as above
BikeTech vacuum This would make an excellent tool for someone that does more than one bike (ie ahs a business) as it provides quite a bit of info to the trained mechanic. Cost was the factor for me on this one also.
You could get some vac gauges at a good auto shop and make your own but remember to put some kind of damper in each line or your readings will be all over the shop.
You could also make your own manometer for about $20 with some tube, and odds and ends. Depending on what fluid/meduim you use will dictate how big it will be.

Re: Healtech OBD tool
I've decided to get one of these, there a local eBay seller at $242.50 delivered, (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120531628592&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1239wt_906), anyone know of a better option?
Cheers Peter
