checking engine oil level
ok, WTF
On my old bike when I took the little oil cap off it had a dipstick attached to check the level....
On the bandit, when i remove the cap, its just that, a cap...
So how do i check the oil level?
just so everyone remembers, 05 1200s K5 - hence it is oil cooled

Chips: It's not a bad idea to have a quick flick through the bike handbook, maybe theres some other stuff you may find out about your bike.

old blokes sense of humor can be a bit brutal sometimes but dhula`s right / imagine the crap you`d have copped if you`d seized the motor instead

Re: checking engine oil level
Chips, if it makes you feel any better I've done the opposite. I've always had bikes with a 'sight glass'. Then I borrowed a mates bike (Honda Cruiser) while mine was off the road. No matter how hard I looked I couldn't see a sight glass. I ended up ringing him, he pissed himself laughing at me before finally telling me to undo the cap.

Re: checking engine oil level
does it make a difference if its on the centre stand or just held vertically? Manual says vertically so i just did it that way, although i did comment to the mrs thats its a pain to look in the window and hold the bike vertical as well.
