Engine oil on sale?

I'd like to know if motorcycle engine oil is ever on "special"? .......and in any quantity greater than 4 liters?

I use Motul 5100, and it seems that only 4 litre containers are available, nothing larger like a drum.

You might have to contact the wholesaler for a drum. Go Goggle.

Getting larger quantity will depend on how much riding you do per year and how quickly you do it.
If you do say 5-6k kms per year then there is no point getting more than you need for a change and some top up because like petrol, oil does go off (it starts to separate).
If you do 5-6k kms in 3 months then it would be cost effective to get a larger amount because you'll use it quickly.
Thing to keep in mind is you have no idea how long the oil has been sitting on the shelf unless you can get the batch info.

Me personally I get a fair bit of oil, but I use the same oil in my cars as I do in my bikes so I do go thru it quickly and regularly.

I've used that before all good as it's not friction modified.

Motul comes in 20 lt drums , but dealers up here are selling 4lts for $50 so for me the saving isnt there .

The bigger stealers down here do you a favour and knock a big 5% off the shelf price! Their answer to my "are these ever on sale" question is "the volume isnt there to warrant a sale!" I usually go thru approx 8 litres a year (2 services).

I was a service station proprietor for many years, and when we sold the business, I stocked up about 60L of Shell Advance. That oil lasted me for about 10 years. It had absolutely no problems. I don't think anything much happens to motor oil in sealed containers that are stored in a cool place. Unlike petrol, I doubt motor oil has a shelf life.
