Rego Sticker Placement.
First topic message reminder :
My rego lable holder was attached to the rear chain guard bolt. It looks so much better with it not being there so I want to mount it somewhere else. Where have you found the best place to mount it ? Are the tube holders legal in QLD ? With just about every cop car scanning our regos on the road for "history", its a wonder that we need have them on our bikes anyway.

I’d be quite happy to front a magistrate and mount a case that on motorbikes the plastic holders snap off from vibration if placed on the rear mudguard.
“Your honour I placed mine in a secure position on the left hand side (like my car’s rego label) that enabled it to be read without fear of losing it unknowingly until pulled up for not displaying a rego label”. Case dismissed! Mr Prosecutor stop wasting this courts time………….
Re: Rego Sticker Placement.
not knowing is not a defence.
You know the rego holder is going to break, afix it in a better manner to the bike
Do not pass go, do not collect $400 (<-- inflation)

Should I have put a comma after unknowingly ?
re rego sticker placement
it depends if you put it on the left side of the plate using your right hand or left hand

Well there's your out, you need a broken rego holder and put it under your seat.
"Really Officer it broke off an hour ago, lucky a mate saw it and picked it up for me......... Of course I'll get a new one as soon as the shops open"

So in Victoria, on the back of a rego form it states " For Motorcycles and trailers, place label in a special holder provided by you"
So for Victoria and NSW a rego tube should be legal
It doesn't say where for a Motorcycle. I was under the impression it should be left side or rear.

Re: Rego Sticker Placement.
i haven't had a rego sticker on the either bike after the first renew after 6 months of getting the bike.
I just rip of the display plate when the old sticker expires. I leave the new sticker at home.
If I get pulled over I just walk around the back and say, "oh, dam, it must have fallen off again, I'll have to go get another copy from transport department".
Although so far I have only been asked for it once and the cop really didn't give a dam.

Re: Rego Sticker Placement.
Read in the news last week that Queensland will do away with rego lables by the end of 2013. Wonder if there will be a reduction in the fees due to the then lack of need to print the stickers and send them out ? Fat chance of that. We will probably cop an increase to pay for the upgrade to the cop cars technology. Good thing tho. I have always hated rego lable holders.

I doubt you will see a reduction
This from WA Dept of Transport, Id imagine QLD will do the same
12.
Will my licence be cheaper now that I’m not getting a sticker or disc?
The vehicle licence fees are reviewed annually, including assessment of costs, service delivery and any adjustments for other factors such as CPI increases. The production of vehicle licence stickers and discs forms a small component of the licence fees charged to register your vehicle. While Government will save approximately $2 million over four years by not printing and posting licence stickers and discs, there are over 1.5 million light vehicles licensed in WA and the saving per individual vehicle may not be noticeable by the owner.

Re: Rego Sticker Placement.
VicRoads' own instructions only instruct to "place in the special holder provided by you" which could be bloody anything at all. I use a regular label holder, but after losing two from the chainguard and getting replacement labels, have decided that under the seat is the way to go, especially as there is NO direction to actually DISPLAY said label anywhere on the bike. It's been under the seat for a year now, no dramas at all.

Re: Rego Sticker Placement.
I didn't bother putting the new label on my car last August and the one currently on the bike is soon to come off.. Police now have the ability to 'read' your rego plates automatically in their cars so that is why they have taken away the need to have or display them.. (and to think this time last year I very nearly bought a cnc milled alloy one!!)
