Re: sticker on the tank
That my friend is one of the scariest things i did to the Bandit .That glue is tough isnt it. Once you start you carnt stop though because
you have lifted the edge haven't you. Try wd 40 seems to get under the sticker and take your time.People use heat guns like hair dryer
(im bald )that's scary too. I just used wd 40 but if you have got both.Bloody stickers i hate them.
Actually its in 'Search" put in stickers and you will see Warning Stickers. The last one by Big Al

Orange oil works best. You can buy it in a small (100ml?) bottle at the supermarket or a hardware store.

Patience and a label remover. It's basically a straight blade in a holder. The bike looked so much better after removing them.

Re: sticker on the tank
use a hairdryer to soften the glue and then carefully remove using fingernail then pulling it as it comes away - continue with hairdryer. the paint is very soft so you need you be VERY careful - i wouldn't use a blade myself. remove glue with gunkoff or something - wd40 maybe - and then polish and away u go
Re: sticker on the tank
Have good fun with it
but i thought the hardest sticker to remove was the one on the chain guard. That took alot of patience.

I agree ,it kept tearing into tiny pieces. Was petrified i was going to scratch the new tank though.

At work we use a pinstripe remover which is basicly a rubber wheel similar to this http://www.wurth.com.au/catalogueview.asp?pdf=A03_0270.pdf Ours is a bit different in that it has ridges on it. Works very well(quick and easy) and doesn't harm the paint as long as you dont press too hard. We use them for removing stripes and double sided tape on cars and my bike(although I still haven't got around to that tank sticker yet Gus!)

Yeah I'll have to get it out somewhere nice and take a few more updated pics of it. Not sure that it'll be this weekend tho, we've got a cyclone heading our way http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW60281.shtml That doesn't happen too often ay? (last one was 1978)

+1
I did this on the weekend, started with hairdryer, got one edge lifted. Continued with hair dryer until sticker came off in 1 piece. Cleaned up residue with eucalyptus oil then washed and polished the tank Did the two on the top of the fairing the same way.

Re: sticker on the tank
You did well to get the damn thing off in one piece. I did the hairdryer and eucalyptus oil trick but kept nearly burning my fingers with the dryer. Eventually I got the sticker off but in many, many pieces. The oil seemed to get rid of the glue pretty easily though.

Its in the technique, peel slowly while heating it with the hair dryer, yep it gets damn hot. Aim the hair dryer where its just starting to lift off

Re: sticker on the tank
My second hand 1200S still had all the stickers on, as new. I used every finger nail that I have, but when it came to the chain guard one ! I used a chisel shaped craft knife blade and very carefully shaved it off. Why so many stickers Mr Suzi ?

Re: sticker on the tank
hair dryer fro a minute or so then the top plastic "cover" of the sticker will come off in one piece.
Hair dryer again for a short time then use an old credit card or similar as a scraper. When the sticker seams to become stubborn, hair dryer again for a short time. Rinse and repeat till gone.
Once gone I used some metho and WD40 to get ride of the last little bits. No scratches or marks that I can see and my tank is black so I reckon they'd show up pretty easy if they was there

Eucalyptus oil will remove any sticker goo and won't stuff the paint.

+1, but I little bit of heat from a hair dryer helps the process. Just don't get caught using your wifes hairdryer as a heat gun, she may not be that impressed.

Re: sticker on the tank
Thanks for this great idea Spent what seemed like a couple of hours last night getting the sticker off the tank, and the two on the top of the fairing (the one on the black plastic came off easily in one piece) - Used an old hairdryer and then the Eucalyptus oil to get the goo off and a final polish afterwards... Certainly not a quick job and frustrating with 'hot' fingers! Now to attack the one on the chain guard... Worst part is, once you start you HAVE to finish!!

Re: sticker on the tank
I picked up my new Bandit (1250SA) yesterday, so last night I spent some "quality" time peeling off the sticker on the tank. What a pain! I used the hairdryer method described in this thread, but it was still a long tedious process.
So far I've taken off the one on the black plastic ("don't store things behind the fairing blah blah"), as well as the one on the tank ("don't do stupid stuff blah blah"), I haven't yet had time to take the one on the front LHS ("keep windshield clean blah blah"). Hopefully that last one will be easier than the one on the tank was!
