Rear brake lever Empty Rear brake lever

Can anybody see on the rear brake foot pedal where the foot rest goes through it, there is a very thin washer .Does it go on the outside or inside.
If you look at the gear change pivot bolt (LHS) you will see a thin washer on the out side .Its like that but on the other side,very hard to see.

Ok, on mine there is no thin washer on the outside, but the inside has a barely visible thin washer that is a spring steel washer to remove slack in the assembly.

Thanks everyone ,i know it was a pain to see.I took it off to polish like DB's pic above .After painting the hanger black the lever looked as rough as
guts .Sorry 2WA if you paint yours you are going to have to polish the lever as well .Takes about 20mins .File off ridge,sand with 120,240,400,800,1200
by hand then buff on wheel (or hand) .Will look like DB's above.
