Greetings from up north
Checking in from Hong Kong though I grew up in the SA bush. Just bought a naked black 2011 1250. Nice ride. Just ordered a Yoshi titanium slip on. Petrol is abouut AUD$2/litre.

Hey thanks for joining in, sounds like an interesting place to have a Bandit, are there many good motorcycling roads?
I'm sure we'd appreciate some photos when you get a chance.
Welcome to Aussie Bandits.

Re: Greetings from up north
I love Hong Kong.... Greta place to live, and westerners incomes are equivalent to the higher living costs. Depending on where in Hong Kong most public transport is VERY good and cheap and there are some great highways. I haven't spent much time on the few "country" roads though....

Thanks for the warm welcome
The bike - a new 2011 naked model - was HK$99,000 which is about AUD$12,000 based on the current exchange rate. The price jumped a lot in recent time due to the weakening US$.
I live and work in the "country" so roads are relatively good. We have a lot more container trucks and buses though.

Fuel consumption
I have a couple of questions if anyone is interested in answering:
1. I am still getting through my first tank of gas and was wondering what I should expect for mostly city riding? I am at the halfway point and have done around 125k's. I am not sure whether to expect 250k's or treat the reading like other fuel gauges I have read.
2. I bought a Yoshi slip on. Andy advice about making the change would be greatly appreciated. Do I need any extra equipment? Should I warm up the bike? The bike is brand new, so I guess the "gasked" everyone talks about should be in good nick. If I take the Yoshi baffle out, will I need a power commander?
Thanks.
I'll post a pic soon.

Not sure on city K's.
Don't do your back in, on the very heavy standard pipe
Yoshi's. just line the small hole's up, put the little rivet in the hole and slide the clamp over it and do it up
My Yoshi slip on just slips on, No gasket needed.
No PC needed for just a slip-on.

Fuel consumption
I normally get 17 to 18 km per ltr in city riding , more on a trip . If you give it shit though these figures will drop quite a lot

I seem to get about 65-70kms per bar on the scale. 75 if i'm being a sook. I've found it's improving since new and I've got around 6000kms on it now.

Re: Greetings from up north
Thanks for the replies.
I should be out riding but Mrs has me at home on assignment!
should be looking for a gas station at around the 250k mark if I am in the city?
anyone care to share some experience about taking the Yoshi baffle out?
PS and this bike goes like the clappers!

Re: Greetings from up north
Thanks. With all the stopping and starting in the traffic here, I filled with one bar to go and that was with 220k gone. I reckon the best I could get here is around 270. I am still running her in. Maybe milage will improve after the first 1000k service.

The trouble with the GSF1250 is at the start of the last bar you still have 7 - 8lt left. Thats more than 1/3 of a tank.
I have ridden many many km with the last bar flashing and still only crammed 13lt in.
Pretty piss poor fuel gauge IMHO

I agree, in tassie I went 285ks and only squeezed 14 litres in. The last bar had been flashing for 50 odd ks or more.

My fuel guage is pretty well spot on. If it's on the last bar and I am around 250k's on the trip meter I'll be poking in 16L or so.
My bike does around 7L per hundred, slightly more if having fun

7L! Is that city driving? 'cause I'm consistently getting 4.7 on the hwy and around 5.5 with a mix of city/hwy

7l/100km
Madmax, I reckon 4.7 is awsome! I'm getting about 5.2l/100 combined on my '06' 1200, better than my old SV650s which was doing 5.4l/100. I haven't had the Bandit long enough to know city/hwy, but I'm really happy with the 5.2l/100.
