G'day from North QLD
G'Day my name is Blue,
I have just bought a brand new GSX 1250 FA. I immediately fitted a 2 brothers slip on and noticed popping on over run and have ordered the power tip to try and alleviate the problem. Love the bike, my last ride was a blackbird which became to uncomfortable to ride. I feel like I could ride this thing around the country even with our stupid speed limits. I will be fitting a cruise control this weekend.
Has anyone had any success with a simple plug in tune after fitting a new exhaust to get rid of popping on over run?
Cheers

Gidday Blue. Nice to have you aboard. Simple fix to popping. Search "Pairs system". Under the tank going down the R/H side as you sit on it you will see the rubber hose. I comes to a joiner which is very visible and handy. Pull that apart. Block the tube. I just taped over the joiner then put it back together. Problem solved. Look into some aftermarket headers if you really want to notice a difference. As for riding around Oz. You may want to mod the seat first.
ps. I had a Blackbird as well before the Bandits. Enjoy

Welcome aboard.
The popping isn't excessive on mine unless I have a partial open throttle. Make sure yours closes.

Welcome to the forum Blue.
Mine pops a little but I don't find it annoying. Then again I'm rarely backing off

Welcome Blue - the popping caused by air being injected into the exhaust - that's why blocking off the air feed will work. It won't damage anything to do the mode - mind you, I haven't heard of the popping doing any damage either so it's just a case of what you prefer personally.

Cheers for the info Hammy I did have a quick look on the net and yep there is a lot of info out there even kits that do the job. I only put the new pipe on because my Wife said it looked embarrassing. I'll put the tip on the weekend and hope for the best if not I'll look at the Pairs, Cheers againHammy wrote:Gidday Blue. Welcome aboard.
I liked the sound of the popping however at low speed the bike surged forward. It was annoying so the popping had to go.
So did the pairs mod ie after new Yoshi and K&N air filter.

Re: G'day from North QLD
Welcome aboard Blue. Yeah the decel popping is easy to fix. The diagram
below shows where to block it. Do it where it's
been painted yellow, but on the side of the joint nearest the airbox. I used a rubber cork, one guy I know used a ball bearing. I too
had a CBR11X, too bad Honda don't make them any more. Once described
as a sledgehammer in a velvet glove. I sold mine when I went to live in Japan,
still regret selling it. My Stage III Bandit is actually faster off the
mark than the stock Blackbird, but runs out of puff early. The torque
is much better on the Bandit though.
Anyhow keep it safe and rubber side down.

I used to live up near Tully. Had a "Bombed Up" GSXR1100. Loved going over the Gillies on my way to and from Cairns. Coming into the best time of the year up there.

Re: G'day from North QLD
Cheers Hammy I put the power tip into the muffler but it didn't eliminate the popping completely so I have orders a pairs removal kit from Metrickmetel in the states. I figured if I am going to do it I might as well get rid of the PAIRs altogether. I am reasonably happy with the power of the thing so far I've only done 500 Kay's on it. I took tomorrow off to fit the cruise control and weather permitting I might get a decent ride in this weekend. By the way the kit cost $82 with priority freight:DHammy wrote:Gidday Blue. Re: G'day from North QLD
Yeah sad to sell the bird but my neck is damaged and even with riser bars it was just not comfortable pins and needles in no time. The Suzuki just fits right and was simply unbeatable value for money. as I told Hammy I have ordered the pairs removal kit from metrickmetal. Thanks for your advice Cheers Bluegeekay007 wrote:Welcome aboard Blue. Yeah the decel popping is easy to fix. The diagram
