MotoBatt Batteries.
Anyone had any experience with this make battery. Rang a couple of shops to get a price on a new battery and was given a price ( $103 ) on this http://www.motobatt.com.au/ . Pretty good value I think, and from what I read on their site they seem ok.

I put one in the Quadrunner and it seems to have great starting current - certainly spins the starter motor up faster than the old battery did even when it was in good nick.

I've been running one in my Beemer F800GS for sometime now and have just bought another for a mates GS that I'm looking after. Very happy with them. They come with recessed multi post option and removable spacers (at base) to cater for varying height battery compartments. Still need to specify correct one for the bike, but they are somewhat adjustable. Great cranking power.

Re: MotoBatt Batteries.
I got one after my Lithium battery died an early death .They may be good (?) if you use the bike all the time to keep it charged but I didn't ,so it gave in .
I was always a Yuasa fan but since the distributor changed hands and the new owner wanted to charge me more than the bike shop , I walked .
This nice yellow one cost me $139
One thing has wondering is how its plug and play . No acid to add ,no charging ,straight of the shelf onto the bike .
Doesn't it loose its charge sitting on the shelf waiting for an owner?

Re: MotoBatt Batteries.
It looks like the top comes off ......................It probably would last a fair while just sitting there with no drain on the battery & never being used I would imagine, but it may be a case of buyer beware .

Re: MotoBatt Batteries.
Being AGM it will be sealed with a pressure relief valve and wont need topping up over its life.

Re: MotoBatt Batteries.
Yep - that's the main thing about hte AGM's, being sealed. They were specificly designed for bikes, AGV's etc where the vehicle may not always be horizontal. Also as the acid is imprengated into the fibre glass matting there is virtually no pooling of liquid. This means even if the case was cracked you wont have a large acid problem. The design means they charge much quicker than a normal lead acid, 3-4 hrs compared to 8-10 hrs for a fully discharged battery. Unfortunately they are more prone to failure if they are charged incorrectly, so a good controlled charger is always recommended.

are these available in lots of shops, or just a few?
$103 seems very reasonable.
I'd be looking for somewhere in or near Canberra to get one.

Stu, I bought my quadrunner Motobatt battery from The Battery Factory in Fyshwick. But I don't recall the price.

Re: MotoBatt Batteries.
Thanks guys.
Got mine today from RJ Batteries in Queanbeyan: $80. Now, that seems like good value...
Bit bigger than the last one the previous owner put in. ... starts noticeably easier, funny that...

Re: MotoBatt Batteries.
Edit..Sorry about replying a old post....
I used the MotoBatt for 16months. I liked it with the low voltage drop and the CCA
But I gutted the subframe for a cleaner look and the Moto would not fit where I wanted it.
So (thru surfing) a smaller battery was fitted, laying flat under the riders seat is the SSB Lithium. I have had it for 2 years now has never let me down. Even parking the bike for 3 months she still kicks harder then the MotoBatt fully charged. Think it cost $40 more but you get a higher CCA and the weight is nothing.
Just my 2 cents fellas

Re: MotoBatt Batteries.
The Skyrich series don't have any built in BMS (battery management system) It will be good but don't leave the lights on or run it flat or it won't recover.
