Yeah mate we have a loony with a permanent research permit looking for them.
The last known one died in the late 30’s I think so by any stretch they’re extinct!
F@@king crackpot and he’s a high school teacher too
Don’t know anything about the movie though. I’ll expect a rating out of 5 ok

@Gus
If you are having a go at me Gus I can assure you have not seen any of my good stuff which I deliberately keep off non Photographic forums and I was under the impression that this was a fun and informative thread which means I was wrong, so consider this my last post and over to you mate.

Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
OK Gus, I did not want to upset other member's apple carts, I am the new boy on the block and if I erred in judgement I apologize.
I have 40 years in the photographic field and for 25 of those years I specialized in Sky Diving and Underwater photography with FILM cameras, I only converted to Digital after my accident in 2001 which left me with three and a half years of rehab and a shitload of time on my hands and severe mobility problems and the loss of all my hobbies including diving and skydiving, the money I spend on Camera gear and bikes came from my TAC payout but I would give it all back to regain the physical abilities of my pre-injury life.
Photography and riding is what I am left with, I can't work but I can ride and I can take photographs and I have nothing but time on my hands so I get heaps of practice and specialize in wildlife (Birds in particular) and most of my good work goes to a image Library in San Francisco who lease or release my images which covers the cost of my equipment. I am also engaged with a number of professional Photographers world wide and we send each other images for critique on Disc as each image either a PSD or Tiff file would be in excess of 80 M/Bytes.
It would be a waste trying to post them here because I would have to reduce the size of each file to a size that would ruin a 16 Bit Tiff/PSD which needs to be viewed in Photoshop and on a 13 Grand professional Monitor(which I don't have) prior to printing at A3 or larger.
I only offer help to those that want it and as you might notice I NEVER shit on anyone's work and I judge no one by my standards because most of the others work for a living and don't have the luxury of the time that I have to devote to my only really interesting hobby, I can't even get down and work on my bikes anymore without someone to help me up.
There you have it mate the story of my life since the 6th June 2001 9.40 am.

I was (am hope I still am) enjoying the photos - way above my standard but I admire talent. I'd certainly post one if I thought I had anything worth posting but nature shots are not something I've ever concentrated on.

@Ewok1958
Mate, if you have even a Point and shoot post the make and model (PM me if you wish) and I will try and get you an on line manual and point you at forums which will give you heaps of good advice. I had a calendar published in 2002 for the state of Montana USA using images of Mount Hotham in Winter all taken on an Olympus 4 Megapixel Point and Shoot camera and got paid $3000 USD for them, give it a go and many here will help you.

Ta. I certainly appreciate the offer but haven't the passion for it at the moment (you know how it is when you're already over-committed). However, I'm not going to rule it out in the future. Much appreciated.

Surely someone on here shoots nudes
I post my best in the hope I get some feedback positiveand negative and I've had both. I plan on building on the good and learning from the neg.
At the end of the day I want to be happy with my photos. That is my standard. I dont really care if they'll never be as good as the best shots here. Ironically on a bike forum
I just want to raise my standards. With a total outlay of just over $1000 I reckon I'm doing ok Some drink, some smoke and the foolish chase women
FWIW I have been blown away by quite a few of your pix Gus
Time for a group (grope) hug

Shouldn't that read "Politicians and other Feral Animals" ?

I was cleaning up the yard today in preparation for the MIL visit and this Dragonfly kept coming in for a look.
I thought it would be gone by the time I went and grabbed the camera but it was happy to pose for a while.

Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Great macros lately Chris, love the clarity from the DSLRs, Hammy is posting some excellent ones too.
I saw this pretty field on my ride today, near Luskintyre.
You country folk are truly blessed with scenes like this.

Thanks, I knew it was Paterson's Curse (aka Salvation Jane) I was just seeing if anyone would correct me as it is considered a weed. I didn't know that bee keepers and some graziers opposed eradication plans. You learn something new every day thanks to Google.
I have a confession, the photo was taken on a 'phone. Three shots actually, joined with the free demo version of autostitch (I think it was Baz put us onto that one) and the exposure tweaked a bit with ACDSee.
While we're down there, another free program I've found useful is Noiseware Community Edition which does a great job of cleaning up those photos where there was just not enough light. The price is right!

Wow, we've had some good shots lately.
Chris the 18 - 55 is no where near a macro lens but the clarity is far better than the same brand 55 - 200 POS!
At 55mm the minimum focus range is about 30cm. The Dragonfly was fairly big and little cropping was required. Some shots weren't cropped at all.
The trouble is which one to print? lol
I'll think about it but always find enough faults to not print and frame.
Re: Misc Nature Photo's Thread
Nice shot Baz, 1 suggestion, pick out the plant you want to push and try to isolate it by focus point or f/stop (the wider the better) If you can use your widest f/stop and focus on the primary subject, you will draw attention to it and that will help those unacquainted with the plant to identify it.
Well done mate.
Well done mate.

@ Re-Cycled
Thanks for that info mate and the link, I have never had much success with stitching images even with pro cameras and I have never managed a reputable image on ANY mobile phone.
I will now try AGAIN.
Thanks Baz.
Try as I did I could not find the stitch points.
