Tyre Advice Empty Tyre Advice

Post  RedDragon46 Sun 14 Mar 2021, 5:15 pm

Hi all.

I am after some input on tyre choices for the Bandit as I am looking to replace the Bridgestone 023s that are currently fitted.

What are peoples likes/dislikes with brands as there are plenty to choose from out there, and after talking with many tyre dealers, they have different opinions on which tyre is best suited for the Bandit.

I am seriously considering a set of Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIIs as I do not want a sport/touring tyre.

Has anyone fitted these to their Bandit, and if so, would you recommend?

Cheers.

another dilemma.
Pirelli and Metzeler are made by same firm in Germany, but that just might confuse the issue more 🙄.

A lot of it comes down to personal choice...............  Dunlop seems to get the nod , but I like the bridgestone for value and wear , & suits my riding style .............others shit can them ......

The bike came with a Dunlop (can't recall which one) stuck like shit to a blanket , managed to scrape 6,000 km out of tithe rear, in reality 4800 would have been the end of it being legal, the front didn't make 12,000

I then had had PR2's, 3's and 4's, loved them until the 3's and 4's were ridden on stinking hot days for 500+km, went off and scared me every day after that.

Since then I've had 2 Dunlop Roadsmart 2 fronts, on a RS3 now, my 3rd RS2 rear is 95% worn and about to be changed to a 3. The fill me with confidence every time I ride, I couldn't say that for the PR

All 3 of my Dunlop RS rears have ended up with a puncture

  • the 1st one was disposed of at less than 1/2 wear because the side wall was damaged,
  • the 2nd one was 3K old and ended up with a mushroom plug for the rest of it's life,
  • this one is so close to going I've left the metal in and wearing it out commuting, it will be changed before it sees highway speeds

Before that I hadn't had a puncture on a bike for over 20 years, pretty sure I can't blame Mr Dunlop for them though.

I had no problem with PR 3 & 4s on my FA. No problem in heat. Road across the country on them. Usually got around 12-15k out of a set.

Have OEM Metzeler on my current bike (BMW) They are ok but I will probably change them to Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE
From this review they beat the Dunlops by a narrow margin. (review was done on the same bike as mine)
