Tyre advice - scalloping
So I had a new set of Pirelli Angel GTs fitted yesterday on my GSX1250FA, and rode them in today. My god, they have transformed the handling. The previous tyres were also Angel GTs, but had become very scalloped, and because it kind of sneaks up on you slowly, I hadn't realised how much the handling had degraded.
The last GTs replaced the factory Battlax tyres, which were also heavily scalloped.
I've gone so far for dual compound sport touring tyres. I'm a big rider, about 125-130kg, and i tend to do either a bit of a blast around the local Canberra back roads and twists, or a longer 300km country road circuit each weekend.
So, the question. If both sets of tyres have been scalloped, with the softer compound wearing, should I switch to sport tyres?? I don't do a lot of straight highway - more winding country stuff. I thought dual compound would be better and avoid flat spots, but maybe the wear pattern suggests otherwise.
I always check tyre pressure before riding - compressor at home. Pressure as per book.
The suspension has been modified and set up for me by Terry Hay at Shock Treatment, so I'm ruling that out as a factor.
What do people think???
Thanks

A good bit of reading here, which basically says that scalloping is natural wear pattern showing that your tyre is doing its job. 8-)

The Bandit is very heavy in the front, I was advised to increase the front tyre pressure last time I has one fitted, running 41-42 in it for the last 14K and while it still shows signs of scalloping, it's been much better than running the recommended 36

I also got told to increase my front tyre pressure, seems to help somewhat. you'll still get some scalloping but it will be much later in the tyres life
