Overnight Ride - Oxley 19-20th March 2011
First topic message reminder :
I've been looking into the next overnight ride, North! this time.
I've looked at Gingers Creek as an overnight destination, it's a bit limited, a town with pubs etc. would probably be better, but Gingers Creek would balance the distance over the 2 days better and if there was time the keen ones could do an extra lap of the Oxley bends. Just a thought. Check out Gingers Creek and let me know what you think. Does anyone know of other options that I may not have considered.
I'm thinking that the Newcastle guy/guys could meet you at Singleton Maccas.
Here are 2 routes, one could be the way back so we include thunderbolts, it is a bit rough in places as is the road from East Gresford to Dungog.
Route 1 Oxley Highway
Route 2 Thunderbolts
This is tentative at the moment, early planning stage, so please give us your input so we can plan another great ride.

Well, we had a great weekend, big thank you to Baz and Andrew who braved the Sydney weather.
The rest of us managed to dodge the weather and only got some light misty rain here and there.
Uralla turned out to be a nice little town.
We had 3 1200 Bandits (mine and "the twins") Barry's 1250FA, Paul's GSX-R 750/1100 special and David on the TDM 900.
Neil's Bandit
Andrew's Bandit
THE Bandit
Paul's Custom Suzuki non-Bandit
Thunderbolt Inn - Where we stayed.
Unfortunately Baz couldn't get a room with us but stayed half a block up the hill - here
Some of the facilities in Uralla, a new Bowling club which we will have to try "next time"
and the attractive park.
After Baz and Andrew left us we went up Topdale Road back to Thunderbolts Way, well worth it despite the 6km of dirt at the end, I suspect this will soon be gone. Then down to Gloucester for a quick lunch, nobody was really hungry.

A big thank-you to everyone for making it a fun and memorably trip.

So you are a member Neil, that means we had 5 members on the ride
Thanks for the extra photo, and you got people in it, which are strangely absent from my photos.
I do have a pony though, from my early morning walk around Uralla.

Seems you had a good ride.
If anyone is interested the group I usually ride with are planning an overnighter to Tathra on the first or second weekend in May. I'll let you know for sure just as soon as I know what's going on....

Thanks heaps for an awsome weekend. Was good to meet all of you and the riding was brilliant. The highlight for me was The Oxley Bends. I will need 2 get back up there again, with a bit more time to really enjoy the area. One day i suppose. Baz and I enjoyed a great ride home. Especially the detour around Tamworth back to the New England Hwy. There was 9 ks of dirt, but it was beautifull country. Well worth it. A wet ride for us down the Putty. That was a shame. Still, adds to the memories i suppose. [img][/img]

Nope, the overnight ride to Tathra has been postponed to later in the year.
