"Tour of Tassie", late 2018, who would be interested? / General Discussion
First topic message reminder :
.....and when would suit?
I'm keen, would love to do a ride down their, catch up with Barry and Gus in their part of this great country.
It would be great to get enough interest from enough different locations to have a true National Meet again
Needs to be after winter, probably early summer.
For me if we could do it after Uni finishes Kaylah (Dancing Pillion) could keep my pillion seat warm again, that would be first/second week in December
I'm keen to hear (read) others ideas

Is everyone that is keen happy with the suggested 1st week in December, 4th ?
yes
Or would you prefer a week later? Either way would still get us back home with family in plenty of time before Xmas
yes
Would 8 days, 7 nights on the Apple Isle be about right?
yes
2 nights in Launceston (day trip Devonport to Launceston, day trip on day 2)
yes
1 day to Hobart via ??, then 3 nights in Hobart with 2 day trips,
yes
2 full days and 2 nights heading up the West Coast at different locations with a 1/2 day ride on the last day before heading into Devonport for the ferry?
yes

I'll go with whatever suits the majority - not fussed about dates.
Would 8 days, 7 nights on the Apple Isle be about right?
I'd prefer 1 or 2 days less but again, whatever suits the majority.

So are we doing this?
If this is going ahead is the plan to board the ferry in the evening on the 4th?
And what is the return date?..........
I just want to know so I can book holidays.
Plus the earlier you book the ferry the cheaper the fares usually are.

5th - 11th o/night on the Isle
Ferry back on the 12th
unless anyone has any great objections, maybe let that run until this week end and see?
I'm too strapped to book/pay after a couple of big unexpected expenses, it'll be a couple of weeks away for me before I can pay for it.
If you put in for that time and it changed in a week or 2 is your employer flexible enough to change it?
(Personally I like the build it and they will come theory, set the dates and those that can will!)

I'm good with that as long as I can get the holidays. Early December shouldn't be a problem.
Might have an extra person with me.

As far as accommodation goes, is there anyone who really has a problem with sharing a room?
PM me if you don't want your reply public and I'll just post numvbers not names.
Personally I'm easy either way although if Kaylah does end up going I'd probably share with her, that could be a double though which would make 2 singles still available in effect giving us 1 extra bed in the house

I reckon people would have a problem sharing with me. I need to read until I fall asleep (or I cannot get to sleep) and I nearly always find I wake up between 3.00am and 4.00am, when I need to read again to fall back off to sleep. If I don't do this I get sleep depredation and would need to have nanna naps during the day to "catch up" - I don't want to waste my trip sleeping during the day when I could be riding. I also need to get up and pee at least once during the night. Can't imagine anyone would want to be sharing with me, and quite happy to book a room in the closest pub so as to be fair to the group.

I reckon I'd sleep straight through all that, I'd probably be by 5 or 6 and ready to go for a walk though
Re: "Tour of Tassie", late 2018, who would be interested? / General Discussion
I think my accommodation issue has all become moot. Bev's been advised that the old lady she cares for is planning on visiting her daughter in Switzerland over Summer, beginning early December. As a result Bev wants us to take the opportunity to go caravanning. So I'll not be riding to Tassie. I can understand her viewpoint - she didn't get a break last year and the van just sat in the shed, so she wants to make the most of the opportunity that is to be presented to her.
Ah well, next time!
