My First Bandit :)
Hey there
I'm located on the gold coast QLD, been riding for about 3 years and recently purchased my first 1250 Bandit.
My bike history from first to current:
2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300 SE ABS
2008 Honda CB600 (Hornet)
2014 Yamaha Bolt-R
2011 Suzuki Bandit 1250n
So far I'm loving my bandit and don't ill replace it for a VERY VERY long time... if ever. as you can see I'v had a few bike in the short time I've been riding and nothing has been as enjoyable to ride as the bandit. Look forward to meeting more bandit owners out there in QLD.

G'day and welcome to the forum.
4 bikes in 3 years! I'm guess you couldn't find something comfortable. I rode a mate's Bolt once, interesting but not for me.

Little update.
Just thought I'd post a pic of my bike now. R&G tail tidy added and new LED tail light with indicators integrated in.

Re: My First Bandit :)
2 x thumbs up from me.
Has the change drawn any unwanted attention from the boys in blue yet? I thought there was a requirement for blinkers to be a minimum distance apart (300mm?)
Either way, it looks good.

ADR 13/0 suggests 180mm
DIRECTION INDICATOR LIGHTS
A motorcycle or motorcycle fitted with a sidecar manufactured on or after 1 October 1991 is required
to have direction indicators fitted. The bottom of the indicator lights must not be lower than 350mm
from the ground and the top of the indicator lights must not be higher than 1200mm from the ground.
Front indicators:
i. there shall be a minimum distance of 240mm between indicator illuminating surfaces.
ii. there shall be a minimum distance between the indicators and the headlight of 75mm.
Rear indicators:
i. there shall be a minimum distance of 180mm between indicator illuminating surfaces.
A direction indicator fitted to a motorcycle must, when operating, display regular flashes of light at
least 45 and not more than 120 flashes a minute, be operated by a person in the normal driving
position, be wired to an audible or visible device and flash at the same rate front and rear.
When on, a direction indicator light must be visible from at least 30 metres from the front and rear of
the motorcycle.
The colour of light displayed by a direction indicator must be:
(a) if the light faces forwards – white or yellow; and
(b) if the light faces rearwards:
(i) yellow; or
(ii) for a vehicle built before July 1973 – yellow or red.
I'm pretty sure you'd last less than 5 minutes in Vic with that tail light though
Re: My First Bandit :)

Re: My First Bandit :)
No trouble from the PoPo just yet. I do plan on putting some small LED indicators on as the tail tidy does come with the fittings. Mainly for insurance purposes though.

Re: My First Bandit :)
I'm pretty sure your number plate would suffice as a rear wheel guard although with it blanked out it is a bit hard to be 100 % sure
This is the Fact Sheet the SA Government released after ADR 42/04 was amended
https://www.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/127841/MR1540-Motorcycle-muguards-and-tail-tidies-VS-Fact-sheet-oct14.pdf
Your indicators definitely do not comply and even if you fit complying indicators the bike will still not meet the minimum 180mm apart with that light assmbly fitted
Is the light assembly marked with any relevant approvals, "E" (European Standard), JIS (Japanese Industry Standard), FMVSS (US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards)?
Do you have a number plate light?
If you do, does it show light rearwards (it can only light up the plate, the illuminated surface can't project any light towards the rear)
Do you have a Red rear facing reflector?
Not having the reflector alone would see you put of the road in SA

Re: My First Bandit :)
I wonder when that changed, it used to be 60-120 flashes per minute2wheelsagain wrote:display regular flashes of light at least 45 and not more than 120 flashes a minute,
The change wouldn't affect many, mostly they flash too fast when LED's have been incorrectly fitted
Re: My First Bandit :)
My issue with the tail light is insurance would walk away if you got rear ended even if the fuzz didn't pull you up.
Its pretty but not compliant.

Re: My First Bandit :)
If you do get pinged for it I recommend Rizoma led indicators. Small but very bright

I agree, it's not so much of a concern with the police, always a worry with your insurance company. Any mod you do to your car, bike, boat etc if not done correctly can void your insurance if you need to claim. Every policy will stipulate vehicle must be maintained in a roadworthy condition. Any variation from that and your insurance company can, and most will, walk away from you.
