Arrow Headers
10000km header progress.
When the Arrow headers first arrived, I was tempted to polish them but decided not to as the finish was some what agricultural , meaning lotsa blemishes due to manufacturing stretches / bends etc
and the slight pitting of the surfaces.
Cleaned them with WD40 as recommended here on the site somewhere with WD40 on a rag when pipes were still abit hot for a few weeks and they turned a lovely golden colour which I liked.
Did a recent trip to Tazzie with some mates , rain and everything over 2500K over a week.
On getting back to West Oz, the pipes seem to have developed a ingrained almost rusty build up. Looked shite.
Decided to pull them and clean thouroughly. Got them reasonable but nowhere near the pre trip condition.
Sanded with wet and dry, then polished on my pedastall polishing wheel. The surface original blemishes are still there although you have took look close.
Will wipe down with some alloy cleaner once a week over the winter and see how they go.
In hindsite, I should have polished them professionally originally.

Re: Arrow Headers
Hmm, if they discolor like that, why pay the extra over Delkevic?

Re: Arrow Headers
Agree Ewok.
The Bandit one of 3 bikes in my shed at the moment.
I really like the look of the Delkevic headers and only went for the Arrows cause they were so cheap buying online.
$650 ish delivered from memory.
If the Arrows hold their polished stainless steel shine with minimal maintenance, I'll be happy.
The thread was mainly to point out the raw stainless in my view does not hold its newish looks for long
and if thinking about purchasing them , to take it into consideration. I hope the slippery polished finish now will resist the deteriation I experienced.
For the record, I"m a British / Euro / Harley man and buy alot of pipes and mod alot of bikes.
But I always have a UJM as a work hack for everyday use. Hence the Bandit which is a great alrounder in my view.
