Over Temp Light or install a temp guage? Empty Over Temp Light or install a temp guage?

Hi Folk

I have been intrigued by the lack of any graduated temp indicator on the dash and only to have the warning light. Has anyone got  any comments about whether to install a 'proper' temperature gauge or whether the warning light is sufficient in people's opinions?

Thanks Oh Knowledgeable Ones,

TT

Driven a basic to mid range Jap/Asian car lately?

In all my time on the Bandit the fan only came on a couple of times. I didn't miss not having a gauge.

There's a fair few after-market temp gauges out there that range from small match-box size to full blown dashes, check this thread to see what I added: Trail Tech - Striker Dash

You could also wire up a lamp/LED to the fan (if you can't feel when it kicks in), this will give you an indication when you've got up to 105°C (for the GSF1250 - not sure if the FA are different).  It switches off when the bikes cooled to 100°.

I don't believe there is a problem using a warning light , but if it gives you peace of mind , and doesn't make you paranoid watching the temperature go up & down , fit a gauge .

I reckon the bike is fine with the red help me NOW light. its pretty good at regulating its temp.
on the other hand if its a 1200 the thermocouple type digital temp display from ebay in oz would be on my list. they sell for about $100 and you can monitor up to two points.
