2016 Dakar Rally

Stage 1 was cancelled due to a lack of available safety helicopters

Stage 2 was won by Aussie, Toby Price on his factory KTM, great result, I'm sure my old kindergarten/primary school class mate Andy Caldecott would be looking down very proudly at him right now

Would that be the Dakar rally that is nowhere near Dakar?!

I guess safety of everyone including competitors, crews, media, support etc etc had to take priority, it was either move or shut it down completely, the world we live in can  be a pretty fucked up place at times 

After a couple of disappointing stages, particularly stage 3, Toby Price is back in contention after leading a all KTM top 3

Price has taken his 4th stage win of the race to now sit in outright 1st after Stage 8

Toby's overall lead has increased every stage since Stage 8, he now leads fellow KTM rider Svitko by over 37 minutes with one Stage left, Husqvana rider, Quntanilla is a further 15+ minutes back followed by Honda rider Benavedes who is 57 minutes behind the Aussie

A simply fantastic result for Toby Price.  I hope that the mainstream Australian media gives this achievement the exposure it most surely deserves. But......I am not holding my breath!!
