Dakar 2014
Anyone watching it? Ben Grabham is doing well so far 6th today and 9th overall. Only the second stage and still a fair way to go.

There are no kangaroos over there so Ben should go well. He is riding very wellso far.

Re: Dakar 2014
Ben Grabham is out of the Dakar as is Mark Davidson. There are still a few Aussies left. I wonder how many riders will make it this time as it appears they have made it very hard

Re: Dakar 2014
Thats a real shame about the Aussies.
Even Depres is finding it difficult and they aren't a week into it yet.
Its such a great event and the footage rivals the Tour De France for the shear spectacle.
Last night on TV, the shot of a bike rider going up a single track on the side of a 4000m high mountain was breath taking.
Respect to all the riders, with consistently doing around 700kms daily, and some on very rough roads.
A personal favourite of mine is the trucks, they are just beasts devouring the land as they go.
The cars are OK but not like the old days of Peugot, Mitsubishi, BMW, Toyota etc etc.

Re: Dakar 2014
I read how Patronelli bailed off his quad as it fell down a 400m ravine, so they don't tell the whole story on the TV coverage. These guys know what they are doing, the course this year is super tough that's for sure. Hopefully Grabbo isn't too banged up after his superman moment. I feel sorry for him considering yesterday he waited and helped out a fallen rider until the helicopter arrived

Oh, That's why he was still placed 9th after finishing in the 70's. so he came off. I was hopping he just blow his bike up, after the luck he has had. I wish they would do a hour show daily! Trying to get it all in in 30minutes with adds is bullshit.
Re: Dakar 2014
Aussie Mark Davidson had a 27 hour stage and then started the next stage near straight away.
Now that is tough!
He is in this clip.

Re: Dakar 2014
Yes they are tough, but he would be so stuffed. I'd be smashing red cordial flat out to get some energy back
I remember a couple of months back I gave up trying to get up this big muddy hill near Wellington Dam. My mates had to come and help, the bike was buried up past the foot pegs and we had to literally drag it out of the 4wd tyre rut and ride the last 8 metres up the hill. Once you hit exhaustion a 100Kg bike feels like a tonne
