I did the local toy run here a couple of years ago. It will be the last toy run that I do, as there were too many tools that cant ride in a large group lime that.

Re: 37th MRA SA Toy Run - 2015
The Adelaide run is a bit crowded from the Supercar track in Victoria Park to the start of the SE Freeway, after that it's 2 or 3 lanes of Freeway until the Callington turn off, the oval is only a few km from there. I used to prefer the old Glenelg start and the Woodside Finish, unfortunaly the run out grew the Bay and well and truely outgrew the road from Hahndorf to Woodside, I seem to recall one of the runs having 12000 bikes, Anzac Hwy/Cross Road to the freeway was a nightmare.
This was thaken in 2011, it's the only one I've done starting at Victoria Park, we were a lot closer to the front than the back, if anyone knows the Clipsal 500 circuit, the bikes were lined up from the start line, back around the hairpin then the lineup was longer than the main straight line up

I may be going if its not my family xmas do day ..............do you know about the $5 entrance fee now ?
Have to agree , Woodside was great ...............Hahndorf was pretty good with plenty of places for a coffee & a stroll afterwards , but Callington the last time I went was a dust bowl & miles from anywhere . Ok while you were on the oval , but for a fund/ toy raiser/ social event ,the rest of the place left a lot to be desired .

No I didn't, last time I went it was Gold Coin Donation, oh well, inflation has to hit everything eventuallypaul wrote:I may be going if its not my family xmas do day ..............do you know about the $5 entrance fee now ?
Re: 37th MRA SA Toy Run - 2015
They have a booth at clipsal track ( presumably if you can get near it ) to pre-buy tickets to save time at Callington apparently . they said last year cost $24,000 to stage the event & the gold coin donation wasn't covering it....................you would think 12,000 bikes a lot with with pillions would have come close , but maybe not enough donated & figured the toy was enough .Chook wrote:No I didn't, last time I went it was Gold Coin Donation, oh well, inflation has to hit everything eventuallypaul wrote:I may be going if its not my family xmas do day ..............do you know about the $5 entrance fee now ?

It used to be for the kids. A toy, a gold coin donation, feed and drink. The run is now all commercialized and can count me out. The good old days were Glenelg to Hahndorf. I see it will suffer from now on. My 2c

Re: 37th MRA SA Toy Run - 2015
It was a prefect day for the run, we were joined by a mate on his old Vulcan and his brother inlaw rode down from the farm on his tractor (2015 V Rod) to join us as well
Amongst the thousands of riders, only 1 or 2 idiots (Kaylah and I nearly had one ride into the back of us while we were doing about 60-70 kmh as he weaved his way through bikes 4 wide on a 2 lane freeway )
Here's a couple of pic's, I've got one coming later of the Callington oval full of bike
The route - we skipped the chaos at the start in the Victoria Park section of the Clipsal 500 track and began from the red dot (Hungry Jacks for breakfast)
Parked directly in front of me was a Grey GSF1250S, a few bikes along a Blue GSF1250S, directly across from that a Red one and about 20 bikes along the row, a Grey GSF1250, guess who forgot his SBA calling cards

I haven't heard any official figures/estimates but I'd be surprised if it was less than 6 or 7000Ewok1958 wrote:Good turnout.

Re: 37th MRA SA Toy Run - 2015
Yep Hahndorf They filled the top oval , around the bottom oval , 1/2 of Hahndorf &were even parking on the farmers property opposite the oval which he opened up for us ..................must have been a lot of business for the town that day , lots of people also used the towns shops for a coffee etc . ..........part of the problem with Callington , if it's stinking hot or raining , there is no-where to go .Chook wrote:I can remember going to one at either Woodside or Hahndorf that reportadly had approx 1200 bikes therepaul wrote:The numbers are down on a few years ago , but it was a top day weather wise for it
