Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
First topic message reminder :
Who's planning on doing the WSBK's in February, and who is interested in getting a house on the island?
There are plenty of options but we'd need to know who wants to join in to get a idea of what size place we'd need?
Going
Hammy + Mate
Ewok & Bev
madmax
Chook
reddog and Mrs reddog
Barry & Axle

Well after the racing had finished and the dust had settled we left the island and our fellow banditeers. Thanks heaps to @ewok (and Bev... loved the lasagne) @chook @hammy @madmax @barry_mcki (and Willow), Brisbane Barry (barry number 2) and @#tag
Pamela and I had a great time. You all treated us like you had known us before and provided many laughs. Especially whilst watching the Martian. I think we need a new section in here... what would Matt Damon do haha
Btw we got upgraded to a double queen room in Melbourne. At least we had a win even if it wasn't a new motorcycle.
For those that couldn't make it you should pencil it in for next year. Never know I might take some more time off and actually ride over next time.
Hope you all have a fun yet safe journey back home

Most annoyed, , couldn't make it this year. I'm heading over to the Mainland (NZ) in May for the big bro's birthday.
Ride safe on the way home everyone.

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
Great racing and a fantastic Bandit meet. Loved every bit of it. I did 3,544 kms for the trip, putting $264 of petrol in the tank (oops, some of that was Poweraid going into the other tank!). Cheapest petrol was 86c per litre and you could get another 4c off! The island house was great - Bev said she hasn't met a better group of people, and would love to do it again. Does that mean WSBK is going to become the annual Bandit get together - just a thought?reddog wrote:Well after the racing had finished and the dust had settled we left the island and our fellow banditeers. A big thanks to MM for getting such a great house. The table tennis and pool room was much under-used, which says something for how we kept ourselves amused. And nightly dinners at $10, and $40 per night for the B&B was just fantastic. Chook is a great all round chef and Mrs Pamela Reddog's roast with potato bake was a ripper. Life sometimes doesn't get any better.
And Hammy - Yoda says hi!

Well, 4699km later and B2 and I are home. What a great trip
The best "gathering" yet . IMO.
Many thanks to:
MM for finding the house which was awesome, and for all the laughs.
Ewok & Tag for riding so far to meet us and then show us so many great roads.
Barry & Willow who drew a crowd where ever they went.
Pamela for a wonderful roast dinner.
Red Dog for Coming so far to be there.
Bev for a delicious lasagna.
Chook for all your fantastic BBQing.
And my mate Barry for entertaining us around the pool table. ( Ewok knows what that means )
Hope we can at least match this one next time.

I always like to let my opponent win the first few games - lulls them into a false sense of competence!

This country has unusual geography - Hammy did 4700k, Ewok and Chook did 3500k but I did 4000k.
Dave - did I get lost a lot?

A tankful of petrol's worth.
I couldn't make the last session - speedo said 150km.
So I still got lost a lot.

That's not too bad mate, 30 odd laps. Your fuel mileage goes out the window at the track. Bet it was fun

Re: Phillip Island WSBKs (2016 National Meet)
I must admit today was a struggle, I had to work real hard not to nod off. I went to bed at 12:30, woke at 4:20am, tossed and turned but couldn't get back to sleep, left Frances just after 8:00, coffee stop 1/2 hr up the road at Bordertown, quick stretch at Tintinara (rode in the rain for about 15km before then but it was still well over 30deg), fuel & coffee at Tailem Bend, it was pretrty hot fot most of the trip but when I came through the Heysen tunnels just before Adelaide it was like riding into a blast furnace, by the time I negotiated city traffic and nearly every red light from the Old Toll Gate to home I was absolutely drainedHammy wrote:Glad to hear you made it home safe Chook. "Bet it was fun"
That's a winning bet.
Chook said "(rode in the rain for about 15km before then but it was still well over 30deg)"
That's not rain. That's a hot shower.
