Hi Guru's,

Having an issue with my Bandit 1250's headlight, one park light is not working and the headlight is blowing globes, high beam works no problem.

Any ideas out there?

Rod.

Sounds like your regulator is not (regulating)

Check your voltage with the engine running, should be about 12.5v on idle and 14.5 - 15 when rev'd at about 5000rpm. Any higher and you have problems, a good Battery shop can do these test (usually for free if they think you might be buying a battery from them).

Hmmm, all advice gladly accepted, especially from Barry!!!

Might put my hand around the candle 2Wheels to stop the wind blowing it out. Rolling Eyes

I had my rectifier/regulator replaced on my GSF1250. I don't know if this applies to you.

What are the defects?

Some regulator/rectifier assemblies were produced with insufficient adhesion between the power module and the rectifier case. Due to the insufficient adhesion, heat generated from the power module can cause it to lift from the case. This condition can cause excessive heat in the module which can result in insufficient charge being provided to the battery.

What are the hazards?

The battery may discharge and can lead to the engine stalling or a non-start condition.

Where the product was sold

  • Nationally

Supplier

Suzuki Australia Pty Ltd

What should consumers do?

Suzuki will write to owners of affected vehicles.

Owners are advised to contact their authorised Suzuki dealership for inspection and replacement of the regulator/rectifier with a modified unit.

Thanks Dave,

Bike is 2012 build so should not be affected, booked in for service on Friday so will get the wiring checked for gremlins.

Will let you know how it goes. Got caught in a downpour going to work last Friday which caused problems with the clutch switch, might be water related.
