Tyre prices - faark!
First topic message reminder :
Need some new hoops, front and rear.
(The Michelin PR2's have done 19,ooo km, and could last till the next Wet for commuting, but a track day beckons on May 30th...)
Best price in Darwin for PR4's
$229 front
$299 rear
Add $70-$100 to fit and balance.
$630!!!
What are you blokes paying down South?

Re: Tyre prices - faark!
My Angel GTs went on about 10000kms ago. (still looking good BTW and just beginning to think about squaring, have to do more technical roads to fix that lol) I paid the princely sum of NZ$390 for the pair, FITTED. Who says this isn'd God's Own Country ?

Some pretty good pricing from BikeBiz in Sydney at the moment (given the dollar exchange rate).
Michelin PR4 set: $480 free shipping

Dunlop Roadsmart 3 set: $420 free shipping.

Looks like the RS3 has a very different tread pattern to the RS2. They should last longer I'd think. Just hope they have the same sticky grip

I know a guy down in Vic that buys all his tyres from here. https://www.jakewilson.com/p/3836/35851/Avon-3D-Ultra-Sport-AV80-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire
He swears by the Avons.

Don't know about the Avons mate, but at current exchange rates, it looks like Jake's prices aren't any better than Bikebiz for PR4s (when you add in the shipping costs).

2000km ago I was about to hit the JW checkout button on Roadsmarts but checked local pricing. It turns out I could ride in ride out of a local shop for $100 more than just the JW purchase price without shipping.Ewok1958 wrote:Hammy wrote:I know a guy down in Vic that buys all his tyres from here. https://www.jakewilson.com/p/3836/35851/Avon-3D-Ultra-Sport-AV80-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire

With the dollar the way it is it's not worth it.
Re: Tyre prices - faark!
Yes I suppose it all depends on the current $ rate. I just like to ride in and ride out. There are always deals on at different shops at different times.

Re: Tyre prices - faark!
Oh noes - I've got all of my tyres from Jake Wilson over the last 4 or 5 years.
Their previous freight charges worked that freight per tyre was cheap if you ordered multiple tyres (4 to 6) which gave freight at $10- $15 per tyre. Plus they have a return buyer discount that paid for the freight when you were a return buyer.
I've just gone to their site and the way they calculate the freight charges have changed from their original way and of course so has the poor ol' Ozbuck.
At the height of the Aussie dollar I was getting tyres at $200aud a pair delivered.
It's up to $350aud a pair now
