Bandit prices
Because they're not being made anymore, are the prices going to go up, down, or remain static?
Reason I ask is I work with a guy who is looking to move his(without asking I don't know the year, engine is silver), it may have a different colour on the coloured bits and the frame might be a different colour also. It has 50000 soft k's on it.
I realise the shit above is vague
Any ideas what it might be worth

Re: Bandit prices
Bike Sales would say a Bandit 1250 would be somewhere in the range $4,400 - $6,500, depending on a lot of other factors, eg year, S, ABS, tyres, rego left, servicing history.

Re: Bandit prices
Unfortunately bandit prices will go down (imho) . A great bike but build quality isn't great . I have been waiting for the first model to start going up in price but gave up .$1000 to $1500 for a roughie that will be a brilliant bike . Stupid isn't it .

Re: Bandit prices
They’ll never be collectables. No limited edition. Just a classic UJM. Prices will be steady for quality units for a while. What people ask and what they accept are 2 different things.
Re: Bandit prices
My mistake, the engine is black. Can anyone tell by the picture what year it is?

Re: Bandit prices
Looks like an early one maybe 1996/7 Someone with an early one will be able to tell. A side on shot would be better.
Re: Bandit prices
It's a series 1 ............ran from 96 to 2000 . The year will be on the ID plate .
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Bandit_series
This will give an indication on prices although some of these ones are kinda hopeful LOL

Re: Bandit prices
Couldn't help respond to this newsletter as its definitely an early one - just like the one I bought back in UK - May 1996 - though the fairing is a little different and round mirrors - maybe a UK thing. Got married on this bike then bought another - May 2001 - when we moved out to Oz - and still going with 93,000k at 17 years old2wheelsagain wrote:Looks like an early one maybe 1996/7 Someone with an early one will be able to tell. Are you telling me they don't make bandits anymore?

Re: Bandit prices
Yep they don't make Bandits any more
Not to say they won't reincarnate the name sometime in the future.

Fitting smaller tanks seems to be a bit of a trend these days ................2wheelsagain wrote:Will probably make them with a headlight that works but fitba 9lt tankmadmax wrote:Yep they don't make Bandits any more

Re: Bandit prices
Well, it's been many months later and mtbeerwah passed on this unit. I bumped into the owner today and he claims he "needs" to have it gone, I asked what he was looking to get and he skirted around some figures so I made him an offer.
My 13 year old son has been ball busting me to get him something that he can partially pull apart/repair/clean and assemble, I'm thinking that this scooter might be just what the doctor ordered. I did tell my son that he will be paying for it out of his own coin, and any gear that he needs he will be paying for also.
I think it will be a great opportunity for him to get involved in some serious "hands on", and a chance to become more articulate.
I'll hold my breath and see if the owner gets back to me.

^^^^Nah, I'm not fussed either way
I know it's been sitting for years unriden and maybe in the weather......not sure I even want it in the yard without me getting a tetanus shot first.

You can hold your cards close to your chest if you choose, but what was his price, not your offer ?
If unstarted for two years, contact points can corrode, meaning,
Starter button,
Kill button,
Clutch switch,
Sidestand switch,,
Indicators and horn....Can, give immediate issues, but easily cleaned. Also sometimes the barrel.
O-rings can dry out in the carby.
Petcock valve diaphragm and rubber material, can break down and fail, causing bi-pass. This is where it's critical to make sure the needle and seat are working properly.
Try starting it first and go from there.
Fuel tank can rust internally at various levels of degradation.
In the big picture, if there was never any real issue with the bike in the first plsce, other than left to age, it will be easy to get going.
If your not willing to pull things apart and explore, if it doesn't start first up, then don't buy it.
Anything neglected, can turn into exploration to fix it.
This is the problem with people who own things and leave them in the corner to rot.
Still, they're easy to work on.

Re: Bandit prices
I'm not to fused if it doesn't run when I pick it up, the owner is an honest guy and he claims to have never flogged it so I'm assuming it's in reasonable nick engine wise.
If my son was to lose interest in it I might take it of his hands. If it's not worth the trouble of getting going I'm sure I/we could part it out for more than I offered the owner.

Ahh...don't part it out.
If you ever come to that point, "if" , I'll consider buying it from you.

My son just come outside and told me he's no longer "keen" on the project
So at this stage it might end up my project

In passing(I don't see the guy often) the guy said I could have it for the price I offered, he said he'd catch up with me at a later date to sort it out. I know where his office is and could track him down any day I want, but I don't like to put people under pressure......especially who I have to work with. I'll let him go at his own pace

The guy bailed me up today, said if I'm up for it we can get the deal done next Thursday.
I'm gonna buy it from him regardless "sight unseen", so hopefully when I get to his place the bike not too "unsightly"

Re: Bandit prices
I've a show room condition 2010 GSF 1250S - Gloss Black color & Black engine.
Bought New 2011 and first rego'd by local Suzuki dealer upon my purchase.
It has Oxford heated grips and a Carbon Yoshi fitted. Under 10,000K on clock in unblemished perfect condition. It's keep in my man cave and the shed is kept air conditioned on 38+ deg days as we get many days over 40 in summer.
I'm keeping it highly detailed polished with full tank of 95 with some Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube Fuel conditioner to protect the tank inner.
it gets a run and very frequent start up whilst has had more dealer services than needed re recorded K's
Knowing there's none being made now makes me look after it even more.
Yes, there are still some good examples of this wonderful bike out there.
But the next short ride will nudge it over 10K.

I've adopted a different approach ............I'll be 67 next month & ride my 2010 ( still in good condition with over 76,000 km on the clock ) as often as I can while I still can . I don't want to fall off my perch & let someone else have all the fun on my bike .

Re: Bandit prices
OK........ I picked the bike up today. I assumed it was going to be worse, so the seller and I agreed on a price "sight unseen".
For the most part it's in pretty good condition, some chrome is slightly pitted and some zinc parts have worn and started to rust but overall most things wrong with it are cosmetic. It started pretty easily and the engine runs smooth as silk Only 51k on the clock. I'm gonna do a semi-resto on it and hang on to it Going by the tag I assume it's a 96?
For those that asked, I picked it up for $500
