ISC valve piston question
For those that have taken out the ISC valve how easy was it to get out? Should it just slide out or should there be friction and tightness against the housing that it goes into.
I am having idling problem and mine is fairly snug and may be too tight and getting stuck which is causing the idling issues.

Re: ISC valve piston question
Mine was remove the valve and run carb cleaner through the two bores, which ran the cleaner over the piston which protrudes into the bores.
I didn't disassemble the valve and remove the piston.

I have no idea what an ISC valve is or what it does! But, please do not feel the need to explain just for my sake.
Just thought I'd add a few of these for the heck of it!

I feel the need Dave. Nothing is too much trouble for you.

Re: ISC valve piston question
A bit harsh Bosco, I was serious - I have no idea what this ISC device is doing as I ride along at a leisurely pace enjoying the scenery, admiring how much faster my mates all ride and what good friends they are (well, most of the time!).

Re: ISC valve piston question
If its not too much of an ask could you post some pix of the device and brief cleaning instructions?

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos when doing it and because I am only new it wont let me add a link or photo from another site that shows everything. When my 7 day period is up I will post a pic

Re: ISC valve piston question
Pichas are always good. (Barry - you can to beat him to it, go on)
Brief description - its the alloy lump under the right hand side of the throttle bodies with a round electrical connector and 3 x 13mm vacuum hoses running from it. These hoses route air from the airbox back up into the throttle bodies to alter the idle air/fuel mixture, and the amount is controlled by a piston moving in and out of the bores of the valve. As you can guess it can gunk up and the ECU goes spazzo cos the kids aren't playing nice and it can't achieve a stable idle.
Scott's must have been gunked up good and proper needing piston removal.
I got away with just squirting the crapper out of it.
Edit, jeesus I really do tipe slow
Edited Edit You put Barry to shame there Paul.
Edited edit of the edit Is my head really that big?
Edit, etc WTF?? the manual says when the O-rings go we won't sell you another one but we will sell you a whole new valve assembly.????
Hmmm, same philosophy as the fuel pump.

Re: ISC valve piston question
Thanks gents. Thought it might be handy to have a service "how to" . The fuel pump is pretty well known but this thing is a bit of a mystery.
I'll do some editing of the above when I get a chance.
Could someone take a pic of the offending item?
What's that crap that gets in there? Carbon? General dirt? Is it filtered?

Re: ISC valve piston question
I am happy to do up a how to on the ISC symptoms I experienced and what to use on it and how to clean tools required etc having spent so much time on the thing, we are like best friends now.
Is an admin member able to give me access to post photos and weblinks as will not let me at the moment.

Re: ISC valve piston question
The little plastic piston that slips over the actuator arm gets carbon on it but what stops it from working properly is the build up of "crap" that stops it entering fully and therefore having a wrong preset position. In my case this crap I believe was first a sticky substance ( fine pollen for example ) to which normal dirt then stuck.

Re: ISC valve piston question
For what it's worth, there was a recall on 2007 Bandits involving the ISC valve.
See this: https://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/952892/fromItemId/952843
This is a handy site to keep an eye on.
