I like the way her clothing matches the bike colour, far better than dressing her in one of Gus' frocks.

As long as the main / important bits are straight you should be ok

Still, with what you paided, your skill and attention to detail, plus your uncanny knack in finding rare parts, I think you're on a winner.

It looks like a good buy for someone of your skills Gus. Hope the frame is straight. You're set if it is.

I guess as you strip it down Gus, you'll catalogue what's broken and what's not. Any idea of whether the internals are ok?

Re: New project
Subframe is slightly bent, but its a separate piece so a big hammer should be able to fix that . Motor turns over in 5th turning the back wheel .
One front disk bent .

Re: New project
Buy a new Sub frame. It'll save hours of pissing about trying to get it bent back straight. The new ones made of cast alloy normally just snap. Looks like a great project to me

Re: New project
It actually looks better like that Gus - no obviously broken bits staring you in the face. Was the steering damper a standard fit item on the "R" model? Certainly looks factory.

They fitted them as a result of "some" riders claiming poor handling ................hence the name widow-maker they acquired early on ( the early s models ) http://forums.cycleworld.com/showthread.php?p=681281Ewok1958 wrote:It actually looks better like that Gus - no obviously broken bits staring you in the face. Looking good Gus. I presume the SV1000 ECU should be the same? You'll be addign a Power commander anyway for fuel mapping right?

Re: New project
I got a ecu from E-Bay for $150 . This things bog stock right down to the Unleaded Fuel decals so no P\Comm going on .
I imagine when the ecu turns up that's when the " why wont it go " problems will start .

Re: New project
It's still worth more in parts if you can't get it going.
There's a complete RWC red and white in Bairnsdale going for $3800. I'm damn near tempted myself. Was over 5k at Christmas.

Don't give up mate. Imagine if Oscar Goldman had given up on Steve Austin? Lee Majors would have been out of a job. We have the technology, we can rebuild him. I just hope it doesn't cost $6,000,000.
