Project Bike?
As much as I love some of the older machinery, I just don't have the mechanical nous to restore older bikes. BUT, if I did, this would appear to be a prime candidate at the right price:

Yes and No Ewok. Yes, if you had some sentimental connection with this model. ie, Your first ROOT maybe. No. Because in the end it will just be a nice old bike. And one that has probably cost a lot of time and money to get it back to concourse condition. If I was to do "another" restore, it would have to be a bike of some significance. Maybe a Norton 850 Commando. A Trumpy or a Bezza.

Re: Project Bike?
Doesn't look like there's much to restore on that one.
I know of a wire wheel Katana that's in 2 44 gallon drums under a house.
Now that is worth putting back together

That's a key point about it having to be either (a) a bike of some significance - in terms of a future collectable or (b) having sentimental value. 'cause at the end of the day it is just another bike in the shed.

Unless you are lucky enough to be a multiple collector/restorer, then one should think long and hard over the desired model.

That is very tidy mate. Back in the day I lusted after big bore Suzis. Probably why I own one now actually. I am tempted, very tempted, to go buy it. That is if you don't do it first. Nice find mate!

Re: Project Bike?
Oddly enough I saw a GS1000 in Candelo last weekend. Bloke with a pillion. Bike ran fine.
But that 1100 in Mirboo North really did catch my attention fo rthe asking price - it'd probably go for $2,500. As others have said, it doesn't look like it needs to much restoration so unless it's a real lemon, it could be a great reminder of the '80's and a cheap addition to the shed! Go for it - I'm still pining for the SP2! But I have spotted a very nice GSX-750!! But not at $2,900!!!

thanks for email today about the bike mate. It is a bargain.
Go on, buy the SP2! Bev will understand. How many push bikes does she own again?

Yep, that's what caused me to miss a tidy Yamaha RZ350 on ebay. I feel your pain brother.

Re: Project Bike?
No call from my brother mate - have to assume it's gone to a home elsewhere.
However, for a few (might not be the correct adjective) more bucks, you could get this:

Re: Project Bike?
But thats not a project bike ,thats another bike .
Personally i dont think a project bike can have more than 2 cylinders .4 pistons , 20 valves is going to make you loose interest fast .
Single cylinder even better .Yam srx 600 ?

Re: Project Bike?
You might be right about those old single cylinder (500-600cc) Yammie roadies Gus - they had a 20 year production run. Maybe something like this (knock $1,000 off the price because it's a dealer job):
http://www.bikepoint.com.au/all-bikes/dealer/details.aspx?R=10828233&__Qpb=1&Cr=3&__Ns=p_PriceSort_Decimal%7c0%7c%7cp_Make_String%7c0%7c%7cp_Model_String%7c0&__N=1432%20604%201430%201429%201626%201428%204294967267%204294965697&silo=1400&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=11&__sid=128A82347990
Some cheaper one's out there but they look pretty rough.

Ewok, given your penchant for roadworks, mud and gravel it might be better suited! It certainly qwould have been easier to ride than the Bandit on that bridge detour we hit on the way to Frogmore in October.

Not bad but I already have an old XL185 in the shed. The XT600 Has the largest indicators on the plant - must be left-overs from the 70s.
