Re: New project
Great Job Gus. How does she go in comparison to the S? Not just power but suspension and steering, weight, that type of thing. Ive never ridden an R and it would be interesting to hear what you think. Im prepared for the worst.

Re: New project
My S is sorted with the Ohlins rear so its good .Just fitted a ohlins steering dampner I got for $50
I have not even sat on the R with the Bitubo rear shock Fitted 2 weeks ago . I just did the 2 front fork seals and a fork oil change . I really need a new
rear tyre ( have new front ) to get any idea how it feels .

Re: New project
OK cool mate, I'll look forward to hearing the comparison when you get it sorted. Just one other question, as you know Ive just installed an Ohlins rear. Have you got a factory settings chart so I can get a baseline place to start on mine. The fella I bought it off weighs about 110kg and he left it set where he had it. I'm about 92kg so I'll probably need to back it off a little bit but I have no instructions. If you know how many " clicks " back yours is from all the way out that would give me an idea. I can't find anything on the TL sites or the web for that particular twin canister shock. I could just ride around and stop and start for hours but its a real pain in the arse to get to the preload, rebound is not too bad. Cheers mate.

All you need is a mate to help you set your rear sag right. When that is right the rebound is easy.
Simples !

Re: New project
Jimmy you will most likely need a softer spring before you get anything right. When you go to set your sag you will find out if the spring is too much

Re: New project
The spring and shock settings from factory are set hard to help keep the front wheel down btw

You have no bounds to your talents, Gus.
I like to do my own work, but I don't know that I would ever contemplate opening a box of cogs.

Re: New project
Ive got to put it back together yet .
The problem 1st gear , you can see where the pins that are supposed to lock into 1st(not in pic) ,have been jumping out of position
, sliding across the back of the gear . They lock, then unlock, then lock ect. leaving a grove which in turn makes it easier
to jump out of gear .

A few blobs of spatter on ya cog.
Weld and machine?
Its a pitty the rear face is solid, you could have just turned it over.

Re: New project
The "blobs " are crap from the work bench . All parts should cost less than a set of tyres so I think that ok .I'm cleaning
every part as I go so should look good in the finish .
